Space Exploration

I'm in favor of space exploration and the new discoveries that have come into existance thanks to space work. The space station could be in jepardody. The shuttle is soon to be retired. The technology on the shuttle is circa the 1960's. Now there is talk of more exploration of Mars or colonization. All of this will cost billions. Is it up to the United States to do all of this. Does any other country have the technology or money to help or will we have to foot the bill ourselves. And what about the private sector?

I would think that the U.S. would want to foot the bill for colonization so that it would be part of the U.S. In order for the private sector to get involved there has to be a pretty good guarantee of a return on their investment.

Some how I have to wonder how much all that would cost? Look at all the money our government throws at different issues and the return is questionable.

I think space exploration is extremely important as well. You never know, we may be able to have another home one day, now that we've found another planet that has water.

How true, I just wonder at what cost. Something will have to have cutbacks. NASA is already on a shoestring budget.
