To day is Flag Day here in the US. My daughter sent this to me to remind me
Between the fields where the flag is planted, there are 9+ miles of flower fields that go all the way to the ocean. The flowers are grown by seed companies. It's a beautiful place, close to Vandenberg AFB. Check out the dimensions of the flag. The Floral Flag is 740 feet long and 390 feet wide and maintains the proper Flag dimensions, as described in Executive Order #10834. This Flag is 6.65 acres and is the first Floral Flag to be planted with 5 pointed Stars, comprised of White Larkspur. Each Star is 24 feet in diameter; each Stripe is 30 feet wide. This Flag is estimated to contain more than 400,000 Larkspur plants, with 4-5 flow er stems each, for a total of more than 2 million flowers.

That's a lot of plants! WOW!!! How incredible is that? I bet with a slight breeze blowing, it would look like it's flying.
Thanks for sharing and reminding us of this great country! :)

if those flowers act any thing like wheat ot oats do when the breeze is blowing it would be incredable. When the song talks about waves of amber grain it realy is a sight to see. If you ever get the chance to go where grains are grown go. you won't regret it. It's so beautiful.

I DO know what the waves of the fields look like. :) I was born and raised in Iowa, lived on a farm for 20 years, and since college, hubby and I have lived amongst the corn fields.
For 36 years I think watching the corn, beans, hay, and whatever else grows in the Iowa soil is some of the most amazing sites I've ever seen. It's something that everyone should see at least once in their life, and I pray that when they do, they appreciate it as much as I do. :)

I guess I should have looked to see where you are from before carrying on about the grain. I'm from Nebraska and on the western side wheat is raised. I don't think ther is a prettier sight than the way the grain rolls whrn the wind is blowing and the colors as it ripens. Oh I'm making my self home sick.

That flag is just amazing. I had no idea there was such a flag made of plants. It is really quite beautiful. I suppose you couldn't get the full effects of it on the ground. You would almost need to be on a hill overlooking it or in an airplane flying over it. Thanks for letting us know about that amazing venture.

How are thing going. are you still thinking of coming back to the US for a while?

You're most welcome! I'm so impressed that so many seed companies would donate to making this awesome display. Thank your daughter too, it totally slipped my mind that today was flag day. I usually fly my huge one outside on flag day (as well as other patriotic occasions), this is probably the first time I've missed in years, lol.
