Just noticed that Author and the Invisibles is out on DVD and I was thinking about renting it for my three year old daughter. Have your kids seen the movie yet? Did they like it? How about Happily Never After? Could you please recommend a good kids movie that a kid under the age of five might enjoy?

Seriously, i'd go with the cartoon ones :) Shrek 2 was on TV the other day & my daughter stayed up to 10:30pm, sitting on my lap, watching it eagerly - she never does that, she wasn't even 1 yet it kept her that enthrawled she didn't want to move or wriggle. The barbie - Fairytopia ones are very good & nothing beat Winnie the Pooh - well not for me anyway! Some of my daughter's other favourites are :- Monster's Inc. Ice Age & Ice Age 2 Finding Nemo Robots Over the Hedge (she loves the bear) The Lion King Elmo in grouchland - i would say happy feet but she only ever watched the parts where the penguins were dancing lots or singing with the dancing. So there you go! My daughter has just gone 1 so these are definitely for under 5 year olds. Oh, we also have SpongeBob Squarepants The Movie & although it has a couple of lines which are more directed at adults, she loves it - the songs are great, the ocean characters are really bright & colourful - i would recommend you give that one a try & see what she thinks! Good luck!

Just be careful with some movies by Disney though, they can be a little scary for young ones. There's a bit of a scary seal scene in Happy Feet which made my little one cry.

Some really good movies that most kids, that I know, love to watch are the Disney Sing-Along Movies. The sing-along movies are theme songs from some of Disney's most popular movies. Try them out, your kids/nieces/nephews/god-children/etc will love them. To be honest, I like them too...at least I like the movies enough that, I went an purchased some for when my sibs and friends child(ren) are spending the day with me.

Barney. Little Mermaid by Disney. Snow white and the seven dwarfs by Disney. Cinderalla by Disney. Jungle Book by Disney. Tarzan by Disney. Sleeping Beauty by Disney. Beauty and the beast by Disney. Aladdin by Disney. Bambi by Disney. Dumbo by Disney. Black Beauty... if I am not wrong, should be by Warner Brothers. Muppets, the movie by Jim Henson. Mother Goose stories. Fraggle Rock by Jim Henson. There are some barbie stories by mattel as well. Was at a friend's home the other day and the kids were mesmerized by the new CGI movies about barbie and her adventures. All the above are my favorites when I was a kid. And now, once in a while, watching the re-runs on TV, it is still enjoyable! I am sure there are more... off the top of my head, I cannot remember more. Will try to update as they come to me ;) Hope you your daughter enjoys the above movies as much as I did when I was a kid!
