I am a foreign student learning English as a secondary language. I cannot distinguish between "Have" and "Have had" What is the difference between these two? Please give me some examples! I appreciate it a lot! Thank you very much.

to have means that you currently have something. example: i have a cup of tea. to have had means that you did have something that you do not have now. example: i have had a cup of tea. also to confuse you more (but i hope it ultimately helps you) we can also state that: i had had a cup of tea, and this is also gramatically correct. good luck with your english studies.

it's just simple and i disagree with their opinions, my kids quite teaching me grammars, have had - present perfect tense which means you have it and still with you for instance, i have had this pen sine i was in highschool... or you may use it also if you have that thing "already" i have had that pen already.. or not yet having it... i haven't had that pen yet... ..thanks..hope it helps...
