What type of mouse do you have? Could it have a battery that has run down?
I have two different brands of mouse but both work through a usb port. Both require batteries to operate.
If your mouse is connected via a cable it may just have gone bad but check your connection before you give up on it.
If you have to buy another one be sure to try a USB port mouse. It is 100% plug and play. But it will require a battery to operate it.
Good luck to you.

You are right...the USB mouse is wireless. I find it much easier to use and works very well with most computers.
Very glad to hear you have resolved the problem.

Normally, if my mouse stops working the wire is either loose or the PC just needs to be restarted.
