can u differentiate a girlfriend and a friend who is girl???

This is a question in my mind since my school days. When i joined in my engineering, i came to listen a lot of bad things about a girlfriend but good things about a friend who is a girl.suppose, in the way you met with a girl and talked a lot and she became your friend,can you name this relationship as girlfriend or only friend???plz reply me i am curious abt this...

Only if you are a teenager. Only teenagers say...She's not my girlfriend. She's a friend who is a girl. Adults know there is no difference. The reason we know that is really just to torture teenagers.

It is hard to keep friendship between boy and girl only on friendly level, usually one of them start to feel something more than just a friendship... and this is usually end :(
