InternetSeer has started an online petition to stop domain name parking (also known as Cybersquatting). You can read and sign the petition at YouChoose.net.
What is Cybersquatting?Did you ever try to get a domain name for your business, only to find that it was already taken - but not being legitimately used. The owner is engaged in cybersquatting! The cybersquatters grab the domain names and often resell them for hundreds, or even thousands of dollars. This practice is rampant and makes it almost impossible for you to get good domain names for legitimate purposes.

Yeah, just after the Virginia Tech shootings some jerk bought up a bunch of domain names that referred to it.

Never heard of that before, but it seems like it may be possible. If it is to be profitable they have to have a lot of domain names they aren't using. seems like a real major investment and only a small chance of profit.
