Why rose has its thorns?

Personally, it's just so good to live in this world even if we know that nothing is permanent. Can you imagine a rose w/out thorns? How do you look at it? I find it not too pretty. Just like life, if we don't have problems to solve, and no trials to pass on then we can't probably say that life is full of colors, full challenges and full of fullfilments that would make as a better person.
