Dreaming and Nightmares

How would you wake a person up from a visible nightmare? I once had such a realistic nightmare that I was fighting someone and one of my friends was trying to wake me up... He made such a big mistake though! He tried to wake me up by grabbing me... well I was already in a fight in my dream so thought the bad guys had caught me so I fought back... When I woke up he had a black eye, bruised ribs and I had even kicked him in the balls a few times... needless to say with me do not grab me to wake me up when I'm having a nightmare! How would you wake a certain person up who is having a bad dream? Or would you let said person work through it themselves?

Going near to such people under the circumstances is dangerous. The best way is to splash cold water, so that they come to terms with their senses.

If you were to splash me with cold water I'd smack you away

I certainly wouldn't grab someone who was already swinging. I would try calling their name from a safe distance. If that didn't work, I probably would leave them alone for a few minutes and try again. I wouldn't worry too much about waking them unless it looked like they may harm themselves or someone else. Then I would have to find a way to wake them up, like maybe throwing a little water if calling their name didn't work.

I would the person work thru the dream. I might call their name and see if I can wake them up easily. I would be afraid it would cause them more trauma if I tried to wake them and possibly scared them more. If I thought the nightmare was bad enough that they might actually hurt themselves - I'd try waking them up, but very carefully.

I usually let the person work through it themselves and not be a distraction. That way I'm out of the way and there's no attacks at all. I'd rather be left alone though so that way I don't go on and attack someone without really knowing it.
