I'm in the south of China. It's July now and I don't feel very comfortable. Usually spring and autumn will affect me. What about other seasons? This is a rainy season in China. Does it have anything to do with asthma? Dying for your response.

im from the philippines, i am asthmatic and usually my asthma attacks me during rainy and cold seasons starting june until february but usually i get asthma november to december because of the coldness..it's really cold here in our town. first, i usually have colds first and for how many days, it travels down to my lower respiratory tract causing me to wheeze and i have difficulty in breathing especially if i lie down, or the medical term orthopnea. im also allergic to some allergens such as dusts and perfumes. i don't wear perfumes because it may trigger my asthma and i always clean my room to remove dusts. my always bring my handkerchief to cover my nose, i always bring my anti histamine medicine and my metered dose in emergency case. i have learned new things about asthma when i took up nursing..im a nursing student, currently 4th year. i was asthmatic starting from the age of 2 and i ahve lots of allergies especially in food and medicines.

You sound more seriously-illed than I am. I think this terrible disease has made us very careful people and maybe appreciate life more when we are well.

i know that mold affects my symptoms alot. so it being the rainy season over there might have alot to do with it... we get a little rain here in n.c. and we've got mold from leaves and such... so that's certainly a thought...

I live in Detroit, MI, USA and my son has asthma. The same is true for him, spring and summer. The rain could bother him, if there is a lot of humidy with it. I think it also depends a lot on what triggers the asthma. Different things will bring on astham for different people. Some people can't be near cats or it will trigger their astham. That is not a problem for us. In fact, we have both a cat and a dog! For my son, we had to rid the house of stuffed animals. Dust and dust mites were a problem. When we lived in the other house I purchased a rug shampooer to keep the carpet really clean. Now we live in another house and have hardwood floors and that has really helped.

Thanks for your advice. I'm also sensitive to dust. I think your son must be a little boy now. If so, he still has the chance of getting well when he's an adolescent.

My trigger is the cold dry air, so my seasonal trigger is winter in the Colorado Rockies. Tell me then, why do I live here! I really am needing to leave Colorado. I will, and probably before this next winter.
