I agree with him... insects aren't animals... like birds aren't animals... like fishes aren't animals... Yeah we should read their's rights before we kill them "You have the right... to remain silent. Every suck you take can and will kill you. You have the right to fly... if you don't want to fly you should not buzz on my ear cos that will kill you as well"

Insects are animals. They are different type of animals. Humans are mammals. Ants, mosquito, etc... are insects. Lizards are reptiles. There are different type of animal in the animal kingdom. It depend on their body structure and some other stuffs. Insects have one special trait that help distinquish them from other animals and that is they have 6 legs. That's why a spider is not an insect.

Nobody cares about lower branches of the animal phylogeny. All they care about is those animals that they keep alive for the only purpose of making them feel better which they call pets. As far as they are concerned "animals have a soul" that needs to be protected, but they are only referring to pets. I everybody loves animals so much how come McDonalds and other lame companies "sell billions"?

I know liana, it's just that sometimes the brave defenders of animal rights really pis* me off... There are many wild creatures out there that need protection more than the hundreds of dogs that only exist on the streets because somebody decided they don't like them as a pet anymore... And Dan... chicken, cow and pigs can also be a pet if someone decides they like them... Imagine when that happens... Huge protests for the rights of pigs...

If I start one would you like to join in the protest? ^_^ I don't think anyone care about mosquito. They sucks your blood. You don't know what kind of blood they suck in before yours. They might carry a disease from someone else. People don't really like mosquito or other insect for that matter. People does keep ant for pets, in ant farm. Something like that. But you don't see a lot care much about ants either. It's just they are so small and you can't pet them. People will start to care if an animal started to become endanger. I think I heard somewhere that mosquito is an important creature in our society. I don't know what they do. I don't remember. Every creatures have a purpose in life. Well.. except for human. ^_^ I am just kidding.

they suck blood and fly around... and are attracted by light and they have a really annoying buzz sound... and I think that they really like to fly around me ears... o yeah there is another thing they do, they leave a read spot on the wall when they die:P... and yes they are a source of food for little chicks and for some fishes... now think about their's life... what life is that? when your only purpose is "fish/chicks food" or to die flat-head on a wall... you must do something to protest... this is their way, sucking blood:)... it's not their fault that they transmit diseases... so show some compassion people:P

I don't know.. maybe we should write a letter to the Earth Liberation Front or PeTA asking them to join in on our fight for the rights of mosquitos around the world? I'll bet they'd do it if we threw enough cash at them! ;)

I never thought of that before. Or why are there no spider, ant, and fly rights groups? I'm not going to be pro-bug anytime soon though.:)

i've thought about insects being animals since they also belong to the kingdom animalia according to taxonomic classification. however, it never crossed my mind that insects especially mosquitoes have rights just as dogs and cats do. I guess there are bases that classify whether an animal should belong to protected species. like for example, if an animal is beneficial to man like dogs, cats, and horse. another basis could be if an animal is on the verge of extinction and that it would greatly affect the food chain or the ecosystem. as for mosquitoes, we all would agree that they are pests, dangerous pests and I don't think that pests deserve some rights or protection for that matter. ^__^

we would have protected the rights of mosquitos if they would have not done any harm to us ,if we protect their rights then only they will be left in this world they would spread so many diseases that further no human would be alive to protect their rights

Well mosquitoes don't have rights like other animals and insects because they are not endangered, they serve no purpose, and they can carry deadly diseases that can kill you. Therefore we are allowed to kill them as that won't put the smallest dent in the mosquito population. Other animals that are endangered or serve a purpose besides sucking your blood and giving you diseases may have certain rights. Interesting discussion though. Rated +.

well tell me what purpose in this, wonderful world, has the "black widow" besides killing... does he have some rights? and it's an endangered specie... I mean if you, by mistake would recognize a black widow you wouldn't have the instinct to kill her before it kills you? Are we allowed to kill a black widow?

Well if it is on the endangered list then yes killing a black widow is considered illegal. And the purpose of spiders and their webs are actually to reduce the amount of mosquitoes and flies! haha Ain't that a coincidence? According to Wikipedia, 'Black widow spiders typically prey on a variety of insects, but occasionally they do feed upon woodlice, diplopods, chilopods and other arachnids.' Their deadly venom is used to kill their prey and was never meant to harm humans and I am sure they will not unless bothered by a human. Also from Wikipedia I found out the folowing about woodlice, 'woodlice may become abundant and damage young plants.' So by eating them black widows also serve another purpose. The black widow also eats other potentially harmful insects and therefore they do serve some purpose in life besides providing food for other animals. Thank you for the comment :-) Rated +.
