okay, just what is that song talking about?
Flies in the buttermilk shoo fly shoo
skip to my loo my darling.
is skipping to the loo akin to "doing the peepee dance"?
does butter milk have a laxative effect?
I can see where having too much buttermilk and using an outhouse may draw extra flies...
I can not understand skipping my way to the privy though, should there be an urgency. what saith you?

Have you ever made homemade buttermilk before? We always had cows and made our own buttermilk and cheese. We did not have churn so each of us kids were given a quart jar with milk in it. We had to shake it until the butter formed on top. We would get so tired that we would begin to skip and do just about anything to keep our arms from breaking off. LOL
My Grandmother had a crock churn. When you have a crock churn you had to keep the flys away as they tend to come to the milk .

I used to use a dazey churn, I had 2 of them, but before our last move I sold them.... regrettably. Now I only have the tall crock churn which I do not use as the wood paddles on the bottom of the plunger splinters off so much. It is just for looks on my counter.
I guess I was always in a protected area when we'd church the butter, never noticed the flies. Still wonder what it has to do with the loo, lol.
