He's going to run over me!

My big cat is always restless and running around the house. He's been this way for years. Sometimes he'll run up on the couch, and sit on the pillow next to my head. I'm not sure if it's a natural cat hunting instinct or just his way of having fun. Do you think he's pretending to hunt me? But, now that we have a small child in the house, I'm concerned that he may run into her as he races around the house. Is there any way to discourage his behavior?

I wish I had an answer for you. Our's two months shy of becoming a full fledged cat and he does that on occasion as well. The fortunate thing is that he runs past a good distance away from us and leaps onto his room sized cat tree. Each cat has their own personalities and quirks and our, Taffy, is no exception. I could swear it was a dog at times because he follows me everywhere I go and I've stepped on him a few times. I fear that one of these days I will really hurt him if I don't pay closer attention. He also comes into CJ's room and says goodnite to him by mewing; after CJ says his prayers. He's a funny one for sure. Good luck on your situation.

I think children soon learn and are very adaptable with cat behaviour, I think it helps kids learn about lumps and bumps and anyway when the cat starts to get a little older I think he will slow down....
