Can a child's eyes ever change color?

Earlier today my daughter and I were watching some home movies from several years back. And, I noticed that her eyes look a slightly different blue color than they did then. Is this a natural occurence that happens? Or, could it be that the video is only enhancing what the human eye sees?

My son's eyes have changed color a little bit, too. But not too much. I was born with blue eyes (like the majority of white babies) and they turned green before I was a year old. Sometime in elementary they started turning brown. And now they are brown with a lot of gold in them, but they still turn green when I am sick. It's weird how it all works.

That is so rare and unusual! What a beautiful combination of colors, too.

My older son has two different colors ...one is a gorgeous ice blue..and the other is a light golden brown..the eye with the ice blue has a fleck of gold in it..the golden brown one used to have a blue fleck, but that has disappeared over the 20 years since his birth. His Doctors have told me it is a birth mark..that a generation or two before, someone else in his fathers side had two different colors!! He has gone thru holy heck with this though, with people making silly statements i.e. "can you see correctly"?? Iris color has nothing to do with visual acuity, except for albinism.

I was born with blue eyes and mine turned hazel so I think it is just a natural occurence.

eyes can definatly change color over time, just like people's hair does (for example my bf was a towhead as a child and now he has brown hair). Also, youre right to take into consideration that its a home movie and the color can be different on that not to mention if the color settings are different on your tv... an actual camera picture might be better to use for a comparsion!

I know that some babies eyes change color, start of blue then go dark (like brown), but I don't know exactly when that happens. My son has blue eyes and they look different shades depending on what he wears and his mood. My husband has hazel eyes, but they range in color from dark green to gold. Whats freaky about his eyes he will be talking to you and they change, he blinks and they go back to normal.

I have been told that eye color can change over time. Most of the time from a bright color to a darker or duller color that is why you will see some people with bright blue or green eyes they are wearing contacts with the color in them to brighten there eye color.

Probably it is partly because of the video but it does happen naturally. My oldest son and I both started out with blue eyes. He is not quite 9 and his are already green most of the time. Mine didn't change like that until high school. It also depends on what color we are wearing and what mood we are in. Some days they will appear more green or blue than other days. My oldest daughter's brown eyes have lightened as she's gotten older.
