Some of the experiments are real but some of the equipment is made up. Some of the matching progams look fake, they can get a match for almost anything(not talking about fingerprints). You can usually tell if something looks fake.

I think it is a mix of fact and fantasy as well. I would love to visit an office to really see how it all works. I love the processes they go through to figure things out.

Ya. That would be a lot of fun. I bet the real offices/labs aren't that fancy/glamorized though, but it would still be cool.

I think CSI is awsome! Of course it is probably mostly fiction, but I think criminal technicians actually use many of the methods in real life too. Also many of the plots have inspiration from real life. Anyway - fiction or not, it is entertaining!

I think the stories are fiction. I also think that a lot of the science is not fictional. The dna test for example is very real. I think that CSI is finding a way to mix a good story with a bit of facts. I have seen many cases solved because of a test that I recently saw on the show.

I don't think that they really have such sophisticated equipment as is shown on these shows. It would be great if they did because many more crimes would be solved, but it is highly unlikely. I really don't know if there is really such equipment out there, although it is really interesting to watch.
