Behind the Fascination of the Saw Movies

Saw - Our favorite puppet - Jigsaw's alter ego. I personally think he's kinda cute...=P

I've always wondered to myself, why do these movies fascinate me so much? I'd have to say it's because I find the writing and the way the storyline progresses to be brilliant. I don't condone psychotic killings, lol, but I think it's amazing how the writers could come up with a story that unfolds the way it does through these films. I was intrigued from the very first trap of the very first film. And, utterly horrified at the same time! So, for you, what was it that took the cake with this films? Was it the characters, the plot, the struggle of the protagonists, the disgustingness of the films in itself? I'm just curious to know, since I see that there are a lot of fellow Saw-lovers out there. I don't have many friends who have interest in horror movies like I do. No matter how stupid or ridiculous, I find all movies in this genre intriguing. Also, tell me which of the 3 movies is your favorite, and why!So, what do you guys think? This is my first discussion - I'd love to read your comments. Thanks.=)

I love all the three, but my favourite one is first part.i didnt expect a movie with such twists.I was amazed when zap turned out be responsible for kidnapping adam and the doctor. But the climax was superb that real man responsible was not zap and he is also in the game played by jigsaw. i like the other two successive movies but they were not good as the first one.

yeah that part really had me turned around in the first movie! they kind of did the same thing in the 2nd also...with the one guy who supposedly helped get the people there, but then he ended up burning in the furnace. proof that life can take a turn at any time! ty. =)

Hi. I know what you mean. Im a horror movie fanatic myself and when i saw the movie, i couldnt stop rambling about it for days. It was the plot which actually took my breath away. There are a lot of gory films out there but it never really made me very excited to watch the next sequel, for instance the texas chainsaw massacre. it was a thrilling movie but i would love my scary movies to not just make me scream but also make me think and gasp at the same time. :)

Yeah I get what you mean. I'm the same way. I like the little jump-out-and-scare-you movies as well, but they don't keep you coming back for more. I've watched all the Saw movies at least 3 times each...the first one, probably closer to 10 or so, lol. Thanks, eva. =)

hey mann ...love the saw movies ... they have their own uniqueness ... they can't be compared to others , maybe a few but still its diff . the storyline and the way the film commences is a lot diff and more planned compared to other movies . It should have their own genre in the movies category .

It was a fresh idea to me (the way Jigsaw killed, why he killed, and all that) and I wanted to see how things turned out, and I guess I just got caught up in the plot and the suspense in the movie. I can't stand watching horror movies because I won't be able to sleep in peace at least a week after watching them, but I still can't resist watching them and getting freaked out by them XD

Definitely. Horror movies can keep me up for days at a time, wondering what's gonna jump out of my closet next. But I STILL watch them anyways. At least I know I'm the only one! Thanks for your reply, sakana. =)
