I recently read "The Last Family" by John Ramsey Miller. It's one of those books you find when you really aren't looking for anything in particular.
I would definately recommend you take a look at it if you enjoy fast-paced suspense. It's one of those stories where the action starts in the first chapter and then just picks up momentum from there.
It's the story of a retired DEA agent. He lost an eye and was wounded pretty bad while capturing a 'rogue' agent. But the bad guy escaped and has been killing the families of the team that arrested him. The main character, Paul Masterson, is the only one whose family is still alive. He left his wife and two kids after being disfigured and became a hermit in the mountains of Montana.
Two former team mates urge him to come back after telling him about the deaths of the others' wives and children in the past four years. He comes back to try and stop this crazy killer before he can get to 'the last family'.
The jacket says that this is the debut novel of MIller's. Hopefully, there will be more to follow! It really caught me up from the first page. Has anyone else ever read this one?
