First, let me say that I'm a lifelong animal nut. I've always owned dogs and my dogs are like my children. I'm reading this website today, and I click on an external link to some female comedian's webpage. She's also an animal rights activist. Since I've never met an animal right's nut who struck me as particularly intelligent, I was getting ready to close the window when I saw the words "SAVE THE SEALS. BOYCOTT CANADA AND CANADIAN GOODS!". Basically, because of the hunts in Northern Canada on harp seals, she wants everyone who visits her page to boycott all Canadian foods and merchandise, and write the company a letter telling them that they're boycotting them because of the Canadian government's inability to pass a law preventing it from happening. Apparently because we're Canadian we have the ability to just talk to our government and ask them to 'please stop' and of course they will just because their countrymen ask? Apparently Canadians have the superability to negotiate with our politicians over killing seals, whereas the US citizens have been able to succeed so well in getting their politicians to bring home their able-bodied from fighting overseas wars throughout the last century???? That's it, though, boycott all Canadian made merchandise and food and write the companies that have nothing to do with your quarrel with the Canadian government a strongly worded letter to let them know what a nut you really are. Here's the page: http://www.tailsofjoy.net/GetOffCouch/getoff2.html What peeves me even more is that she actually starts bashing east coast fisherman for earning money off seal hunts. I gather she's never been to Canada's east coast, where most fisherman barely earn enough to feed and house their families, and without an off season income would starve. Just another reason I don't associate with people who call themselves 'animal rights activists' -- I like my friends to be sane.

It's refreshing to see an animal lover with an intelligent point of view. I'm always nervous when it comes to animal rights because animal rights activists tend to 'twist' the story around a bit just to make you believe it and want to do something about it, but I like to have the facts given to me first, I like to know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Thanks.
