Animals Rights Nuts are Boycotting Canada

First, let me say that I'm a lifelong animal nut. I've always owned dogs and my dogs are like my children.
I'm reading this website today, and I click on an external link to some female comedian's webpage. She's also an animal rights activist.
Since I've never met an animal right's nut who struck me as particularly intelligent, I was getting ready to close the window when I saw the words "SAVE THE SEALS. BOYCOTT CANADA AND CANADIAN GOODS!".
Basically, because of the hunts in Northern Canada on harp seals, she wants everyone who visits her page to boycott all Canadian foods and merchandise, and write the company a letter telling them that they're boycotting them because of the Canadian government's inability to pass a law preventing it from happening.
Apparently because we're Canadian we have the ability to just talk to our government and ask them to 'please stop' and of course they will just because their countrymen ask? Apparently Canadians have the superability to negotiate with our politicians over killing seals, whereas the US citizens have been able to succeed so well in getting their politicians to bring home their able-bodied from fighting overseas wars throughout the last century????
That's it, though, boycott all Canadian made merchandise and food and write the companies that have nothing to do with your quarrel with the Canadian government a strongly worded letter to let them know what a nut you really are.
Here's the page: http://www.tailsofjoy.net/GetOffCouch/getoff2.html
What peeves me even more is that she actually starts bashing east coast fisherman for earning money off seal hunts. I gather she's never been to Canada's east coast, where most fisherman barely earn enough to feed and house their families, and without an off season income would starve.
Just another reason I don't associate with people who call themselves 'animal rights activists' -- I like my friends to be sane.

Boycotting South Africa over apartheid? Yes.
Boycotting Canada for anything less than their citizens passing a referendum to invade the United States? No.
I don't kow why some people don't get it, countries need friends, too. Canadians are blessed the same way we are - big, beautiful, resource-rich land and a free society (well, at least as free as ours, anyway.) There's lots of good ways for activists to protest the seal hunts, and I honestly think that there are better ways to allow the people who depend on the hunt to eke out a meager living while stopping the abuses than declaring an economic war on our nearest neighbor and ally.

this is strange. boycotting animal hunt has nothing to do with canadian food in general, let alone the country itself. not all canadian foods are seal meat, I don't eat meat much myself. I think she has a different agenda rather than protecting seals.
