How Do You Save Money?

In Australia where I live, the price of day to day living has risen and it's becoming harder to achieve the Australian dream of owning your own home. With the cost of buying a house being far too out of reach for many Australians and soaring petrol prices it's become necessary for many people to cut costs and save money wherever they can. I want to know, how many people have a savings plan and what little things do you do here and there to save money? At my house we have a tin that we tip any extra change into. When the tin is full we cash in the money and buy something that we need for the house. Already after only about 6 months of saving we saved enough to buy a new vacuum cleaner we so desperately needed. What do you do?

Not much. I agree with you that soaring petrol prices & the rising cost of even basic foods such as meat & veges has made it very difficult to save money.
Basicly, our family don't save money. There are just too many bills.
What I am trying to do is reduce the bills. The main ways I attempt this ae by cutting back on electricity use, water use, & phone use.
Electicity could bge cut back by less use of heating, but wearing thick jumpers instead. I go around the house turning off the lights everyone has left on.
Water saving is partly achieved by using receycled water in our washing machine.

I do the same but also add five dollars a day to an envelope for vacations etc. It's funny how it all adds up. I also put away all pennies for my grandchildren to split up and last time each one of them had over twenty dollars....there are four. It's surprising how fast it accumulates.

in my case here in the philippines is the same, i am back to basics of saving up for something i need,just like my old days.the income we earned daily is not increasing and the prices of prime commodities are rising so fast.this is one reason why i opted to do business here in the net.and aside from this one, i have to maintain another business offline to have savings.
