Update on weekend happenings

Well I have to say our weekend was a blast. I stayed at my daughters place Tursday night and we left early Friday morning. We got to the city, got twisted in our directions and I had a bit of a scare (Heart related problems) however nitro spray got me through. Once we found the area we were looking for we did our shopping and what fun we had. My daughter wanted to shop at Old Navy and I knew there was nothing there for my fat body but I desperately wanted to get some waxing done. Eye brows and upper lip. Well I really don't spend anything on myself and therefore I know very little about these places but I thought it looked interesting. My daughter was going to drop me off at this place then continue on to Old Navy then come get me when we were done. Well being the caring person she is she couldn't just let me go in alone, she had to come into the shop and she looked around. Now I know I have to be careful as to what I say and not make it look like I discriminate against anyone, but OMG you had to see it to believe it. This place had probably 5 or 6 women and one man running the telephone and 2 men doing anything from pedicures to manicures. The one fellow was absolutely coofy looking, I'm sorry but he had big patches of different colored hair he wore pointed shoes, I have no idea how he could wear such a thing you have no idea. He wore a mask so none of the shavings from the gel nails he was working on would hit him in the face well as luck would have it he came up to see what we wanted and I couldn't hear what he said and he realized I couldn't hear because of the shield he wore over his lips and when he took it off and spoke my daughter absolutely couldn't help herself she started to laugh and had to walk away and she never laughs at anyone but you had to be there. It was just too funny. She finally left me there and I ended up getting the works. I had eyebrow and lip waxing, I had a full set of gel nails and even a pedicure, man was that nice. That was the highlight of my day. The prices were dirt cheap compared to our prices. We then went for supper. We ate at Olive Garden and what a place that was. I loved it and the food was to die for. I would go again and again. Then we checked into our room. We had reservations for a super 8 and the room was very comfortable. Two huge beds and a very clean room. We changed and my daughter made the discission she had done enough driving so we took a taxi and of we went to the casio. That was a blast and the sights you see there is entertainment in itself. We saw one fellow win a jackpot and a little old lady ran up it almost looked like she had hopes she'd get some of his cash. We had many laughs. My daughter may have spent 50 dollars but she left with 150.00 so she did well. Momma on the other hand, Well lets just say I lost my 50.00. We played a long time on that amount and had a most wonderful time. The taxi ride was something else but for good reason I can't share it all. The one thing I can share though is my daughter suggested because we were in a big city and without men we shouldn't take our purses and I agreed. Well my smart daughter had brought along a zip lock baggie and in there she put her 50.00, my 50.00, my medical cards and nitro spray. Well I kept back 10.00 to pay the taxi and my daughter said, "Mom I don't think 10 dollars will cut it." Moms' know best right ? NO not always. I kept back 10 dollars and my daughter was fast to take the back seat so there I was with 10 dollars in my hand and the money is in the baggie. Well lucky for me she was also watching the meter but I had no way of knowing that. Imagine how I felt when the meter reached 12 dollars and we're still not there. I thought Oh man how embarrasing. Then finally my girl guietly asks me to pass her the baggie and I thought Oh Thank You God. Well I passed the baggie and in no time my girl hands me another 10 dollars over my right shoulder. Well how funny if you could have seen the cab driver. Lucky he was able to keep the car on the road. I don't think he ever took his eyes off my hands. We decided later he was probably wondering if we had a gun or perhaps drugs in the bag. We were better prepared for the ride home. Thank You all for reading this and especially for your prayers for a safe weekend it got me home safe. Please Mothers if you get the chance do a Mother/Daughter bonding. It's wonderful. Happy Fathers Day for all the Dads today !!!

It definitely sounds like you and your daughter had a fun weekend together as well as an interesting and funny one as well. It is definitely nice for parents and their children to spend time together when they have the chance. Me and my parents get together once a week. We went to church together today and had a nice lunch. I am treating them to a Blue Rocks game on saturday night.

Good for you that you're enjoying your parents. We really do not sometime realize how short life can be. I'm glad you're doing different things together. They're lucky to have you as you're lucky as well. I was 25 when my dad passed away and at 56 I still miss him lots.

That's an awesome idea. I used to write a journal then for some reason I quit. I don't think I ever totally lost interest because it still sounds like a good idea. We had a lot of fun.

You did a lot in my eyes. You went to work that in itself means a lot and then you even took supper home for hubby. I think you did well. I hope your eyes are doing well too by the way.

What a wonderful way to spend quality time with your daughter. My daughter and I live together but sometimes we take off for a few days and have a mini vacation where we visit the sites, etc. On Mother's day she took me to the Pechanga Casino and it was a lot of fun. Have a good evening.

I am glad you had a wonderful time with your daughter. I think its great that you got to spend some time with her. I always wanted a daughter but I got blessed with a son instead.lol. I don't get to do many fun things with him like I could with a daughter but we still have a great relationship. I just can't see him going with me to get my nails done unless it is a very cute girl doing them.lol.

Yes good point re: nails but if you ever come to Canada I'd love meeting you and we could go get a manicure. You may need to settle for going with your son to a movie, bowling or maybe out for a nice meal. Either way enjoy the relationship as long as you possibly can. Take Care.

Well now that was an awesome fun filled weeknd. I am glad you had such a blast. That nitro is scary for me as far as taking care of dad. He has nitro pills in case he has heart pains. But I know he forgets things TOO easily. So I am afraid if I am not here is when he will have that heart pain and not remember the pills. They are right beside his chair too. Anyhow glad ya had a great weekend. Glad to see ya back also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Thank You for your kind remark. Yes it is scary dealing with heart problems but I'm lucky in the fact that I know when to use my nitro spray. Your dad is truly lucky he has you or I don't know what he'd do. I read your post about your brother, doesn't sound like he's been much help. I'm sure all us caregivers will have a special place in heaven hehehe. I wish you could get away for a weekend too. Just you and Grandma Deb.

I had so much fun reading this! It is so touching. Makes me long to do a weekend getaway with my daughter! However, she still lives at home and is getting ready to go to college. We frequently do 'girls day' where she and I go shop and eat lunch and leave hubby and brother here at home. When she gets in college I"ll have to go there and do some fun things with her on the weekend! Problem is, hubby will want to go!!!!

Sad to say but before my heart attack we never did anything like this but after I had my heart attack it woke us all up as to how fast our life can come to an end. I would never give up this once a year mother/daughter bonding weekend for anything.

I agree that it is sad that your mother/daughter bonding time didn't happen until after you had such health problems. I think when my daughter gets older I will do those mother/daughter weekends no matter what. Thanks again for the great idea!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. It was great you got to spend time with your daughter and her family. My mom lives a few states away and my family and I love it when she gets to come and visit. Nothing is more wonderful than spending time with those you love.
