Interactive Television: Much older technology than most would admit.

There is technology now by telephone, by computer, etc. which allows viewers to be active with programs on television. There are even game shows that allow viewers to participate and win prizes. Now, this is far from being brand new. However, there are few people, I'll bet, who would admit that interactive television is really much older than we actually know. I did a discussion previously about my husband shouting out answers and cheering and booing the contestants on The Price Is Right. We have a joke in our home, when they do what we encourage them to do, it's because those contestants can hear us! When they don't, it's because they are both stupid and they are obviously not listening to us. I have been encouraging television contestants for many years from my couch. I am sure they "listen" to me. Come on now, you believe it and have done it too, right??

Thanks for the laugh! I so needed it today! Yes I agree 100%- it is like me calling the plays when the Steelers are on TV-- or yelling watch out he's coming around- My sig. other gets so mad- Can't you just be quiet and watch this once? No-- then they could not hear me- Go figure- I even yell out the price on the prizes on Price is Right- and I yell out the answer on Wheel of Fortune- Hey sooner or later they will just listen to me- instead of playing dumb! right??

I am famous for doing on it on the Wheel of Fortune and quiz shows like Millionaire, Jeopardy and others. When they don't get the right answer and I have given it to them, I always tell them what idiots they are.

Yes I do it all the time. I really get mad with some of the contestants on "deal or no deal" They do not listen when I say dont be greedy take the money and dont so they end up with much, much less than if they had listened to me!! Then I say "that's what you get for not listening" LOL

My weakness is word games and letter games, like Chain Reaction and Wheel of Fortune. I can watch and get very excited because I am personally very very good at these. I get so mad when the contestants are stupid. I can usually get the answer in very few tries, with very few clues. Some of those people probably never passed reading. I know it's a serious problem and shouldn't be joked about, but sometimes, it really seems like they pick their contestants from a pool at the unemployment office.
