I'm not saying I judge them myself, because as someone who has no children and never plans to, I know how dear my time to myself and alone with my partner is.
However, as 2 well-to-do doctors, couldn't they have hired a sitter while they took their alone time?
What do you think?

Yeah, they should have definatly hired a sitter. I wouldn't leave my kids alone, even if I was 100 feet away like them. Those are young kids and you cant predict how they might act even with frequent checks. However they cant turn back time and I'm sure feel terrible so although I don;t think it's right, I wouldn't blame them. I am sure they have enough blame between themselves.

Of course they should have left their kids with a babysitter BUT they made a stupid decission that they will regret for the rest of their lives.
I would never ever leave my daughter by herself not even for a minute because you never know what can happen or what pervert is lurking around the corner so you have to always keep your eye on your kids at all times.
We can only hope more people learn NOT to leave their kids alone no matter what!

You never leave a three year old alone with two younger siblings. A three year old child is not old enough to babysit. What the parents did was wrong. Even if they needed the time alone together, they could have asked the apartment manager or the local convent to recommend someone to babysit the girls. But still the idea of them leaving the girls alone not because of an emergency when they had to run out of the apartment, but because they wanted time alone sickens me.
