My son has been eating baby food for a few months, but just recently has begun to eat it more often. I noticed from the start that his favorite was bananans, and now he tends to like anything that has bananas in it. He isn't too fond of veggies, or meats. He isn't really into pears or apples even though those are sweet as well. He just like banannas! I'm wondering if he will ever acquire a taste for something else! What was your baby's favorite food when they started baby foods? Did they learn to like other foods?

My son loved sweet potatoes too. I was always worried he would turn orange if he ate too many.

My three kids were really fond of the orangy foods: Carrots, Squash, Sweet Potatoe. I think Sweet potatoe was the all time favorite.

Oh yeah, My son does like sweet potatos. I forgot about them. He hasn't ate any in a while. He didn't like carrots and he really hated squash when I tried that. I think tomorrow i'll give him some sweet potatos and see if he still likes them, and try to give the bananas a break for a bit.

You know, I remember my mother-in-law would always tell me that in order for a baby to like new foods offer a spoonful of his fav in between new foods. A spoonful of banana and one of carrot and take it like that. Your baby might like it.

That is a good idea. I never thought of that. I will give it a try. I'd like him to like several foods. Thanks for the tip!

I think it was mango or broccolli. i stayed away from broccolli though because it wrecked havoc on her diaper and my nose! I think most kids do like the orange foods like carrots, squash, etc. I know when i was a baby i ate so much sweet potatos, my skin turned orange from the beta carotene. My mo mgot worried and took me to the doctor and he just laughed.

i have a cute little daughter who has just completed 11 months. And fortunately for us (me and my wife) she loves everything that we eat and give it to her. We were planning that by the time our daughter turns a year old, she should eat everything that we cook for ourselves. And it is becoming a reality now. Although she eats everything that we give, her favourites are fruits like strawberry, mango, banana and she also likes curd and rice with yellow dal.

My son still will not eat anything with 'chunks' in it. Somedays he completly shuns away baby food. I think he is going through a stage. He'll get through it though. Thanks for responding!

My son is going to be 16 months old so he is pretty much over the baby food stage (although he will eat a jar of fruit every once in awhile) but his absolute favorites were sweet potato and banana.

Same here with my son. I've been trying new things though. i did get him to eat pudding and yogurt, so atleast that's a little variety. I've been trying to get him to eat foods with consistency, but he just won't do it. I've tried cream of wheat, and noodles chopped up, but he just gags.

Both mine were Banana's. My daughter never did like green beans in a jar but she loves them whole.

Carrots stain really bad, or at least all their bibs were stained from them so be careful not to let him wear a light color while eating them. Corn was another good sweet veggie. I tried a taste and it tastes just like creamed corn. I can't remember what other veggies there are right now.

So far I haven't been able to get him to eat any veggies. We tried carrots, but he spit them out. Also tried peas and squash and he rejected them both. I think i have a jar of green beans in the cabinet, I might try that just to see how it works out.

I have 2 little girls 3 years and 15 months who absolutely love bananas. I made sure to mix their food up while they were babies and gave them a lot of veges and some meats and other fruits. Since bad eyesight runs in my family I gave them carrots a lot. They didnt really show a huge preference for a certain food back then. My oldest really liked spinach and my youngest liked sweet potatoes but they both ate anything put infront of them. Im sure with time he will acquire new likes and dislikes and eat a wider range of foods. Just keep offering him new foods, be patient and add variety.

Thanks! We have a ton of choices for him in the cabinet, eventually I think he will eat them. His #1 first favorite, even before bananas-- was prunes! I haven't tried them since he got stuck on bananans. He loved prunes though, but wouldn't touch carrots, which is odd to me since carrots taste way better. HAH!

For my son, it was undoubtedly, sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes plain, with apples, with chicken. . .he loved them all. My daughter liked all of the fruits the best (minus prunes!). They both would eat almost anything I tried until they got to the chunky, stage 3 baby foods. Neither of them liked those.

My son really does like prunes. Those are so gross to me, but he likes them. That was one of his other faves prior to getting stuck on the banana kick.
