How Long Should A Person Be Inactive Before We Delete Them From Our Friends List

I was going through my friends list and looking for the ones that have not been active for a while. I don't want to hurt any ones feelings, but it is annoying to see pictures from people that never post. It is very time consuming to take them off of the list, but it hast to be done.
I am a person who really values my time, but I want to be clear about who is active and who is not. There are some who have not been active for 3days, 7days, 2weeks, as been my cut off point so far, but I don't want to seem rude, because I value all of my friends. What has been your experience with this?

I have had quite a few friends who are like that. One of them that I thought about deleting, but didn't, is back after two months. I have deleted 3 though that have not been active in three months. I think three months is being optimistic. Usually only a really busy schedule or an illness would keep someone from MyLot for that long of a time. But try not to feel bad about it. They can always request you for a friend again, or you vice versa. And those three friends I deleted? They still aren't back, so I don't feel bad. I want to make sure to devote my attention to the people still responding and being active.

hi there, Rozie 37, my friend. I am a newcomer to this site and my friends are not so many yet. However, I try
to make friends with everybody here at Mylot, and I also
give importance to those who have accepted me as one of their friends. Before I post some discussions, I make it
a point to look at " discussions my friends started " and responds to their posts that I have something to share about.

I don't want to be rude either but tonight I have to delete 14 friends (pending) because I am very, very busy taking care of my ailing mother, my stroke victim cousin and 30 cats and barely have any time to even be on the computer and next week I will have to take care of my sister's autistic 6 yr. old grandson because they are going away on a trip! I know the people I will be deleting are sweet people but for now, I can't handle anything else. Some of them have been pending for over 2 weeks now and I just want to let them know it is nothing against them, but I must delete them and hope they'll understand.

This is realy something i need to do. I have been here 7 months now and although i turn down most of my friends requests i have still managed to get over 200 people on my list. The majority of them are no longer active, i think ill give them a year and then delete those who havent been here for a long time
blessed be

I haven't deleted anyone off my list and would only do so if they were abusive or rude. The way I see it, people have their own lives offline and this could affect how often they post so I wouldn't want to close the door on anyone if they haven't been active for a while!

I think that is a matter of personal preference, i would think though that people can get sick, or have surgery and not be active for 6 or more weeks as a result. I had surgery where i had double vision for at least weeks after it,
I would think over 2 or 3 months, if a person does not log on I would consider dropping them.
I will drop people from friends if I see questionable posts, things that I feel are not appropriate for this site, but they would have to be gone over 3 months before I would drop them.

I see what you are saying. I would hope though, that if they had an opportunity they would let their friends know ahead of time. Some of my friends, I have gotten pretty use to them posting and would be worried if I did not see them for a while.
There are quite a few friends that I have that I have never seen active. I don't know, maybe it only bothers me that they are taking up space, but are not active.

It amazes me that they ask to be put on my list because they don't post to any of my discussions. I don't expect them to post to all of my discussions but at least post to a few in a reasonable amount of days. It makes me wonder why they even bother to request for me to put them on my friends list. I haven't deleted anyone yet. But I am thinking very heavily about doig it. Like you my time is valueable. This I don't consider rude what I consider rude when the people on your friends list do not ever respond to your discussions. That is what I call rude.

Hm, that is a good question. I guess it depends on your preference. I have never deleted anyone unless they were breaking the myLot rules. I just don't have too much time to research my friends now.

I just turn off their notify button and leave their names on my list. I have a few that have not been active for quite sometime and so I wasn't sure whether I should delete them or not, so I decided to just turn the notify button off. I know it takes up a lot of space in your friends list but I didn't want to offend anyone by deleting them.

That is very interesting to me. I never thought about if people on my friend list are active or not. Does it hurt me if they stay there? What is the purpose to delete them?

My purpose is that I keep in close contact with my friends here on Mylot. I like to go through the list and see what topics they have done that I want to reply to. When there are a lot of people that are not active, I end up replying as if they were going to reply back and they never do.
Also, I like to send comments to my friends to remind them of me and to see how they are doing. If they are not active it is a waist of time to go through 100 friends just to find the ones that are still active. I have a lot of friends on my list that I have never seen post anything, let alone respond to any of my stuff.
