Will you still wear a sock with holes?

I saw it last week. I saw it again. My colleague's big toe was sticking out from his socks and it seems he was unaware of the hole as he walked from his desk to the photocopier without his shoes. Perhaps he was proud of it!
The first time I saw it, I give him the benefit of doubt. A week later, I find it distasteful. I will not wear any socks with a hole, especially if it allows any of the toes to expose itself. I may consider if the hole happen to be underneath and covered by the feet. And if I know there is a hole in any of my socks, I would be conscious about it and not go around without my shoes.
Friends, how about you?
Will you be conscious of yourself if you were to wear a sock with a hole?
Do you continue to wear a sock with holes in it? If you do wear socks with holes, will you walk about without shoes, exposing the hole or toes? How long will you continue to wear before discarding the sock?
Or the hole does not bother you at all?
Or you enjoy pampering your toes to give it fresh air?
Which is which? Please share your thoughts. Thank you.

Hello,whyaskq,i will not wear a sock with holes,i will throw them away at once if i see a hole on the socks,because i always go to my friends' homes,i think it will be quite embarassing when i take my shoes off and expose my socks with holes on them.May be other people can feel the smell of your foot if there are holes on your socks.:P

Oh, socks with holes certainly bother me.
When I see them, no matter how small the hole is, as long as it is visible, I will throw the entire pair away.

sometimes i still wear a sock with a hole if the hole is not big and obvious enough... but if it is a large hole, i will definitely dispose it... and if i have to wear a sock with a hole, i will definitely not exposed it... i will try my best to hide it as it will be very embarrassing if other people find out about it...

I don't know about your friend but I'd feel very uncomfortable wearing a sock with a hole to work! I mean, come on, you could probably wear it at home during your down-and-out-with-the-flu days but not to work. I think it's disrespectful not only to your co-employees but to the company itself. I think as a paid employee you have to dress accordingly.

Well i wouldn't wear a sock with a hole in the front period especially out in public. However if there is a hole in the sock at the back i will wear it as much as possible until it gets unbearable meaning it gets to big. Nobody is going to see it so what is the harm?

I just wouldn't.. unless i tore it WHILE i was wearing it. If I was in suchhh a hurry and i really didn't have any other socks with me, then maybe I would. But I would NOT have the guts to open my shoes no matter what.. and pray that the day goes by quickly so I can get home and take them off.
I don't discard them. I just put em away in another box. I don't know why I don't just throw them away, though. I think it has to do with being a clutter-keeper. :)

I would wear them until I find time to go get new ones and then they will be gone in a heart beat. I can't stand the look of them at all.

Hello Whyaskq,
I have a few pair of boiled wool, cold-weather socks. I would darn those. Simply because of their cost and difficulty in finding. Any other sock with a whole, nope ... in the trash they go.
And, I will not wear socks with holes in them. You termed it best as "... distasteful". That's exactly what it is.
So, if you ever see me walking to the copier, without my shoes, I will not be flashing my big toe at you! Not even is I was waving to you with it (chuckle, chuckle).

Goodness no. I am funny about my socks. I can not wear them after a few times. If they have been wore 8 or 9 times I just can't wear them. i don't wear them unless i have to either. I don't know why i feel this way. Use to I could wear them as long as I didn't have holes. But now i just can't stand to.

I only have one pair of socks with some small holes in maybe the heel or the side. And I only wear them when I'm going to do an unpleasant task where I wear my worst shirt and the like. That is the only occasion I would do that. You can get socks at the dollar store for a buck for goodness sake! Although, I don't know if they have dollar stores where you are. Darn my lack of international communication.

I feel uncomfortable when I wear socks with a hole/s in them, I can't stand it when I have one toe poking out. I usually get rid of them and buy some more cheap ones LOL

That would bother me, would appear that perhaps your collegue cannot afford a new pair of socks. Whenever I find socks with holes in any of my family members socks (except our 18 year and that is only because he wears two pairs for work so I am not concerned a toe will stick out) but anyone else they are immediatley thrown in the garbage and new ones are bought. I can only think a person that wears holes in their socks are either too poor to buy new ones or too lazy to care what anyone thinks about what they wear, which either case is a sad case to be.

I usually wear the kind of shoes that don't require socks to be worn with them. But if I do have to wear socks, I definitely don't want a hole of ANY size to be in them. The few times I did end up having to wear socks with tiny little holes on the bottom, it bothered me to no end! I think my mother's "snootieness" when it comes to socks and other hosiery rubbed off on me. LOL

Sure it bothers me.
I can even tell you that i tried it, when i was in a hurry one day, i did not notice that one of my socks has a hole in it, and just when i got to the place i needed to be in, i started feeling uncomfortable, so i just got rid of my shoe, and i saw my toe sticking out, it was such a terrible feeling.
I can tell you that socks with holes i just throw away.

I would not wish to wear a pair of socks that had a hole or holes in them. If the hole was by one of my toes I think it would be rather uncomfortable. If I got a hole in my sock during the day I would keep my shoes on until I changed into a new pair of socks. I am more likely to ladder tights or stockings. These are made from a lighter weight fabric. So it is all too easy to catch them on a piece of furniture or something. When I have old socks with holes in I wash them and then give them to my dogs to play with. They really enjoy running around the garden with a sock in their mouths. My sister used to keep old pairs of tights, wash them, cut them into strips then knit into a blanket. She sent these out to poor people abroad via a charity.

hehe... Maybe you friend just don't even bother about the hole. I have some friend who don't mind what other people think about it although i feel it not so nice to wear a sock with a hole.
For me i feel uncomfortable with it. You can feel a air feeling in your toes which make me irritating. And it spoils my image you know.. wahaha...
