Does France lost all moralities? A society in decadence?

I was watching a French movie last night. It was supposed to be one of the best French comedies. The whole movie is about making men looks like imbeciles. And it encourages married women to commit adultery... while their husband watch on and accept it. I did not get a single laugh out of that movie. I just saw "red".

You just can't judge the morality of a nation based on a movie. This kind of hasty generalization is just plain wrong. France, like all western countries (I think), has no censorship on their movies. Although I think that movies of this kind should not be allowed, it's wrong to judge people like that.

Well... first I can... because I was born in France and know a little bit about it. Second... when you have a movie which is a bloc buster amongst French people... that mean that they approve of what the movie is showing.

Still you can't. Living in France and knowing a 'little bit' about it, doesn't mean you can judge all the nation. And even if it was a blockbuster, it doesn't necessarily means that they approve it.

Well if thats what they consider one of their best movies, it leaves you to wonder. Obviously this is widely accepted and they are trying to make light of the situation.
