I want to win a house, my Brother thinks I am greedy

I have just entered a competition to win a house and my Brother, who I love dearly, is tut tutting and saying it is greedy to go for a competition to win a house when I have a home. I live in a very nice flat, but we have severe crowding problems in that my partner's family are here all day long and if we won the bigger place there would be room for everybody - including a room with a combination lock just for me, me and me lol. I actually DO appreciate my home, but I think it is natural to want to improve oneself, and in any case if I were to be lucky (which is most unlikely, I never have won before) then my home would be available for someone else to live in, so that would help them too. Do you think it is greedy to try to improve one's home situation?

Why shouldn't you try for the home you'd love? You have as much chance of winning as anyone else and there's no harm in having a nice home and some space for yourself, especially as you have so many overnight visitors to look after. I don't think you're greedy at all, I'd love a bigger garden for the kids and there are many children who don't have any garden at all. I sometimes think it'd be nice to have a big garden and more room, but it'd mean more cleaning, maintenance and running costs too. If I could find a nice paddock somewhere for some animals and allottments I'd be happy.

Sorry, you know how over excited my typo fairies get. Birdies, fish, doggy, you'll be fine, I'll bring my animals on holiday, hee-hee. Can just imagine you as lady of the manor, you'd love it wouldn't you! Tell you what I'll move next door with my animals, veggies, wind power and solar panels and it'll be justs like The Good Life only funnier.

So good you said it twice, eh Rainbow, lol. It wouldn't be more cleaning because I don't clean lol. Maintenance should be a few years away as it is all done but the running costs would be something to consider, possibly get permission for a few wind turbines or something to even things out. NO we are not having any animals in paddocks, or even inside if i have my way. Seven fish, three destructive birds and a demented doggie on the way are quite enough thank you. hugs

I don't think that you are being greedy at all. I am surprised that your brother feels this way. I think it is just human nature to want to have more than we do. I live in a beautiful home, but if I could win a new house, I would enter also.

Sounds like you have some luck! He is probably just concerned for you. You know, someone is going to win the house so you have as good a chance as the next person. Good luck!

Thank you. To be honest I think I have more chance of walking on the moon than winning the house but you can be sure I shall post if i do win it, and lots more posts about what mishaps I manage to have when moving as I am a very unlucky and clumsy creature.

It is greedy because I already have a home, apparently. Anyway, I have collected the coupons, addressed the envelope, stamped and posted it so only the lucky Angels to get round now :-)

So, does he also think that people who play the lottery to win money are greedy? People already have money, but that doesn't stop them from wanting more. Owning a house gives a feeling of security. It isn't just a place to stay, it is also an investiment, so winning a better investiment, certainly makes sense to me. I bought a ticket for a house raffle that was being done by a charity. Wven though I already have a house, it certainly isn't as nice as the one they had for the prize. Had I won, I probably would have sold both houses, and then bought something "in between" in size, and save the rest of the money.

I don't know what he thinks about other people. He just thinks that I should be happy with what I have got, and on the whole I am. I would just like more room and to be able to have a bath and wander around in a robe until I am completely dry, silly little things like that, and the prize house has en suite bathrooms! to be fair he also thinks my in laws should go to another relative with more room lol.
