I was thinking that i need to start saving some more money. and i was thinking of ways to do that. when i started to write down how much i spend on certain things i noticed that i spend over $50 a week on lunch. Wow that is a lot of money. I am going to start bringing my lunch to work. Do you bring in your lunch or do you eat out every day?

Well I work a lot and for food I used to go out for lunch, breakfast and dinner and jeez it was getting expensive. I pretty much used a good quantity of my paycheck doing that so I decided to stop.
Now I pack my lunches everyday and wow has it gotten a lot cheaper! I hate doing it beforehand so I always make them the night before so I can just grab it and go as if I was going out for lunch. Its a lot cheaper, and also a lot healthier for me to do that.

I dont bring my lunch to work cause I hardly ever eat lunch at my work and when I do want to eat food during my break I usually just buy a sandwich or chicken tenders which taste really good and better then anything I could make plus I would have no where to put my lunch which is a problem.

I usually bring my lunch to work. I'd say, out of 5 days in a regular work week, most weeks will be all five days of my meals are from home. Although every now and then I do like to splurge a little bit, it gets really hard sometimes to always buy food. So we tend to cook a little more than normal and then just make sure we take it to work. My wife and I both take our lunches to work, it saves us a lot of money per week.

I almost always bring a lunch to work. I allowed myself to spend 20$ a week on days that I don't want to bring something. But even if I don,t bring my lunch, I've a least always bring some snack for my breaks and some vegetables to eat with a lunch, water, etc.
Most of the time I spend between 10-15$ a week :P

Hello.34mommma,i only bring my lunch to work occasionally. I may have prepare some sandwiches at the morning before i go to work or i may have left over food from the night before, but most of the time i will eat out as i do not have enough time to prepare the lunch.
I think you will save a lot of money if you start making your lunch instead of eating out everyday.

I used to buy my lunch from the "lunch guy" that would come by the office then I thought about how much I spent a week and the quality of food, I'm now a brown bagger. There is only two of us at home and we always have leftovers. I buy those cheap plastic containers and freeze the leftovers then microwave one for lunch at work. If I want a sandwich I make one at home as I can't stand paying $4.50 for one from the lunch guy. I think the older I get the cheaper I get...

The last 6 years I've been working here I have always brought in my morning tea and lunch and I reckon I have saved thousands of dollars. The only time I don't is if we are going out to farewell someone or I know there is a free lunch on for whatever reason :)

I teach at a middle school, and, most of the time, I bring my own lunch. At the beginning of the month, we get a menu for each day, so I bring money on the days they are serving something that I enjoy. The food at the school is not at all bad. There is also a wide variety of fruits and vegetables; however, the entrees are usually carb loaded and not as healthy as I would prefer. I gained about 5 pounds over the school year eating there!! I saved a lot of money just cooking for 3 the night before when fixing dinner for my husband and I, so I have leftovers for the next day.

I no longer work outside of the home because of a back injury, but when I was working I would rarely bring my lunch. I worked in a grocery store, and would usually spend about a dollar for a frozen dinner or sandwich that I could heat in the microwave. An occasional burger from the dollar menu from McDonald's would also fit into my budget. Since I am not a big eater, my lunches for the week would usually only cost around $5 for the week.

I'm a stay at home mom right now, but when I used to work outside the home I almost always packed my lunch. It beat standing in the cafeteria line and yes, I saved a lot of money. I would go out for lunch maybe once a week, usually on Friday. I always pack my hubby's lunch still, and also snacks to get him through the day.

yes, almost daily. It is cooked and packed with love by my wife. Sometimes i eat outside for change of taste. You have thought very correctly to bring lunch from home. Go ahead and save money and have a good health. Of course sometimes go out to eat. That would be perfect.

i always bring lunch to work like rice with pork chop or baked chicken and garden fresh salad or any salsa. sometimes i will bring sandwiches like tuna with mayonnaise, chopped onions, celery, tomatoes and pepper in hotdog bun or hoagie roll. hamburgers may do as well for a pack lunch that i can always bring to the office. i have my cabinet with instant noodles, swiss miss or instant oatmeal and any fruits for snacks or even lunch as well too.

Since my office canteen gives good stuff and I can eat hot hot food, I prefer to eat in the office canteen.

I use to eat out everyday, it was one of the perks of working in center city, yet it did get expensive. I used my lunch hour as a mental break, if I would bring lunch I would probably still spend money when I would go out with the girls.

I have to take my lunch. Where I work the cheapest place to eat out is like $7.00 a day. So in order to afford it, I have to take my lunch all week. If I am lucky I get to eat out once a week and normally on a Friday.
I park like 4 blocks from where I work so it is to hard to jump in a car and drive to mcdonalds or somewhere. So the only places to eat are expensive. I am sorry I think $7.00 bucks a day is high. So I take my lunch and drinks and save money as much as I can. I have bills I have to spend my money on.
But you are right you will save alot of money doing this.

To save money, I almost always bring a sandwhich to work. I don't bring a lot of snacks to go with it so I don't gain weight and can limit what I eat. At home, it's a different story. Since things are readily available, I eat a lot more, even if I'm not hungry. I worry about these kinds of things and I'm below average in weight. But yeah, bringing food from home also saves tons of money! Occasionally I do eat out when I run out of sandwhich stuff and don't have time to run to the store before the next work day.
