What makes a movie so great? What is your favorite movie and why were you able to say that you will definitely recommend that movie to your friends? Is it the cast, the storyline, the ending? One of my favorite movies is The Game by Sean Penn and Cruel Intentions. I love a good twisted plot...

I think that anytime a movie accomplishes what it set out to do then it has to be considred a success. For example if you laugh out loud repeatedly at a comedy or get scared or nervous during a horror movie than that film has succeeded in my mind. Movies and all types of media for that matter are so subjective because what one person thinks is great another will find to be truly awful. I enjoyed The Game too and one that I always recommend just because it is so different but works brilliantly is Memento. The movie basically starts at the finish and works it's way back....truly brilliant.

I personally think the storyline and plot have to be good. Good acting could carry a movie but it's the background and what's happening that makes a good movie.
You also need well talented actors/actress's but the plot could carry a movie.

First of al he has to have a good storyline... without that the movie value it's close to zero...
after that the cast it's very important... it doesn't have to be a Hollywood star but hey have to play convincing...
and after that ti comes the soundtrack...
also a movie can be made better by the presence of some very talented actor... and also a good story can covet the faults of some actors...
Some movie that I recommend : "The Shawshank Redemption", "Next", "The Big Lebowski" :) enjoy

I defnitely agree with you. The storyline is very important. I love Next but I would rather have someone else play the role of Nicholas Cage. Im not a Cage fan. So I guess that supports you second statement, a viewer's preference of his actor. Thanks for the feedback. :)
