Fun activity for a hot day

It is 82 degrees out today and very humid. The kids want to be outside, but it is way too hot to have them in the sun. I put the umbrellas up on the back deck. I got out the shaving cream and let them fingerpaint on the table. They had a blast! They were covered with shaving cream. They rinsed in water which cooled them off and went right back to finger painting. Does anyone have any fun activities like this for kids?

The butcher paper is a great idea. I should get some water paints and butcher paper and let them go crazy when outside:)

Finger painting with pudding is fun that way too. My kids and daycare loved that. A bit messy but fun. Another thing my kids like to do is the slip and slide. You can use trash bags taped together and the hose. It is a fun splash. My kids also love water balloon fights. I think they have been doing that almost every night this past couple of weeks. I am not sure which mom is buying the balloons I guess I am supplying the water*L* Chalk art is also fun and washes off with the rain or hose.

Thanks for the different ideas. My husband is a freak with balloons being in the yard, so that is only a special treat around here. We have a huge circular driveway and it is decorated with chalk from the 2 yr olds, the 13 yr olds and the 15 yr olds!
