Embarassing Moment

I was looking forward to finishing up the day last Thursday. It was the day before my son's wedding. I went to the laundrymat for my last client. When I returned I grabbed the two bags from the back seat of my car along with the bag that held the detergent. I closed the door and clicked my key to lock the doors. When I turned to head toward the house I lost my footing in the uneven sidewalk and went straight down. My right leg was curled around and my left leg straight out. I sat there for a couple of minutes to check what I had for injuries. Thankfully there was nothing more than a scraped knee. I pulled myself up and stood shakily for a minute or two. A pedestrian stopped to ask if I was okay. I told her that other than being embarassed and shaken I appeared to be okay. The young woman was someone that I recognized from years ago and we chatted for a minute and I thanked her for stopping. It wasn't until that evening that I felt the ache in my muscles. The next few days were a bit painful due to my muscles tensing when I fell. I plan to call the town manager to alert them to the defect in the sidewalk. Now that I am fully recovered from the fall I realize how much more of a problem it could have been if I had fallen and became unable to work because of the injuries.

I am glad you were ok. It's always embarrsing to trip and fall and the pain you feel later.I hope the town manager gets this taken care of before it happens to someone else.

I'm glad you didn't have a more serious injury. That would have been hard to take, right before the wedding. It's good to hear you're recovered now. That's scary, falling like that. It could have been very bad.

I am glad to here that you were ok.This happened to my granddaughter last year, she was riding her bike and hit a hole that was in the sidewalk and fell off of her bike. She hurt her knee. Some people around here just dont take care of there broken sidewalks.

It always happens at the worse times- I’m 34 and have fallen a lot this year- Just missteps- It always feels worse the next day and the day after- I think our bodies just don’t feel the Impact right away- Man I hate waking up the next day and trying to get out of bed. I’d call the town too- maybe they will fix the bad uneven sidewalks- I bet they would if they were threatened with a lawsuit- Our town sidewalks are terrible also- My daughter was riding her bike on one – I know she should have been on the road- and she hit a bad spot- and went down- Scrapped both knees- badly! I hope you’re feeling a lot better

Oh poor thing, when it rains it pours eh? I have had days when I have always accidents and mishaps and the stress before a big event can trigger off a lot of things. Yes you are right that it could have been worse. Once my mother was running for a bud and she fell and had her arm in a cast for weeks as she had dislocated her shoulder, I will never forget that. Thank goodness she had us to look after her otherwise I don't know what she would have done.

Oh, I am sorry you were hurt and unable to work. Have been seen by a doctor yet? What did town manager say?

That's so awful and I am sorry to hear that. We had terrible side walks here in my neighborhood, but after 2 years of constant complaints, our committee is just now, as I type, fixing them. People just don't understand how dangerous those things can be. Of course my youngest (7) hates it, she said, "Mom, they are taking all the good bumps out!". She likes to run over them with her bike, LOL.

That's not embarasse, it is painful. Put some Petroleum jelly (skin protection) over your wound to keep it moisture, that's way the skin and wound will recover faster. Take care.
