I hang my clothes from right to left because of having a tree on the left side which creates a shadow. The sun helps dry my clothes. Also I hang my shirts upside down so it won't have the pinched look on the shoulders. My pants are hung by the waist. I hang my husbands on one line and then mine by order of pants first then shirts, shorts, then boxers. It's much easier to take down and fold when in order like that for they'd go on top of the already folded clothes.

The sun is so harsh I actually have a big tarp over my hills hoist. I hang my undies on the inside. I hang all my t-shirts/tops together and my pants. Tea toels and linen go together as well. I also fold them as I take them off the line. 0:)

You poor dear. I'm luckily high and dry and there's only me so laundry isn't much of a problem. Is the flooding bad where you are? Take care, hope the dryer is wall mounted....I'll be thinking of you. They say more shoers and some really cold temps for the weekend. Stay warm.

I just kind of hang them however :)
I have a thin wire for the lighter clothes & a thicker wire for the heavier ones - i always hang tops etc upside down & everything has to be inside out so they don't fade!
My daughters clothes are always hung on a clothes airer inside, no real order but the larger, thicker clothes go on the front parts so they get the main of the wind/air & dry as quick as the thinner or smaller items!
Yes, everything is hung neatly though no matter where they're put - that way they dry without creases & stuff!

I never hang dry my clothes since they wrinkle easier that way.

i hang my clothes from left to right. we have 5 rows in our terrace. on the first, i hang my clothes, always upside down and on the second my under garments. my mom hangs her sari ( a long drape she wears) on the third one)... she could change her row but things have been same with me for some time now. it gets easier to arrange and ironing.
smiles...

When I hang out clothes its only in the summer time. In the winter I use the dryer.I hang them out neatly so they dont wrinkle. I hang out the shirts inside out so they dont fade from the hot sun. Sometimes I try to fine some shade under the clothes line and hang them there. With the temp being in the high 90 the clothes can dry in the shade just as fast. I hang out my bed sheets, my jeans, towels everything that I wash, goes outside in the summer time. and it drys faster outside than a dryer.
As soon as the clothes dry I take the clothes off the line I fold them right away so they dont wrinkle.

When I need to hang clothes, then yes. I would do it neatly with equal spacing between each. I don't use a ruler though lol.
But I dry my clothes using the dryer nowadays. It is much better since the clothes come out dry, warm and crisp. ;-)

I do have a certian way of hanging out the clothes, I hang the jocks and knickers all in a row side by side, the socks are on another line in pairs sharing one peg to each pair. The t-shirts I hang upside down and almost in half so as the pegs are almost under the sleeves, pants I hang upside down with pegs on ther leg so as the heavier part dries more easily, and I always try to do it neatly, more so it is easier when it come time to take them of and fold them up. I always have the smaller things closer to the clothes line pole and the larger items like jeans and jumpers on the outside line. I never really thought much about the way I did it, but I suppose I do have a certian routine to it and order.

I like to fold them as I take them off the line as well, except when it is too bl**dy cold and then I just wip them off as fast a possible and fold them once I get inside. I am a iron as I need person, so I have everything folded up and put away and just iron what is needed at the time.

Hi, Calais, I came in all excited to answer this discussion, and then find you are talking about clothes. Oh well, here's a different answer to what I was going to give. On the very rare occasion where I have to hang clothes, I usually get asked by my darling wife why I've hung things a certain way. Well duh, so they can dry!! Geesh, next time I won't try to be helpful!

I do not hang my clothes to dry. Can you believe the town I live in has an ordainance against clothes lines? We can't even leave towels drying over a fence for long without worry of being fined.

We don't have a clothesline here, but we did at the house where I used to live. It was on a pully system, so we could stand on the deck, and pull the line in, and send the clothes out, so we didn't have to walk all the way to the other end.

I hang from right to left - as the line is on my left... I work from near to far.
I hang pants from the legs (unless I need to conserve space and then I hang from the wasteband) I usually hang towels sharing a clip at the center of two towels so it is edge of towel clip, other edge of towel along with next towel clip, last edge of second towel clipped to first edge of next towel. sheesh, my mother must have taught me to conserve clothespins!
I like to hang my shirts inside out to prevent fading, unless they are white shirts which benefit from the sun's bleaching properties.
I tend to also hang individuals clothes together - so all of dh clothes are together on the line, all mine are together and each of the children have theirs together - that way as I take them off the line (I fold them prior to bringing them into the house) I can have them folded and ready for each individual's dressers and do not have to sort them out.

I hang my clothes neatly on the line. I start with the jeans/pants and hang them upside down then next I hang my towels then the shirts and then under garments. I Hang in the order depending on which takes longer to dry (goes out first)
