Being bipolar and why do people refuse treatment.

My x husband was diagnosed to be bipolar and prescribed medication it has been almost 7 years and I am really worried because as he gets older it seems to get worse and we have children together. I don't ever want the kids not to see there dad but I want to keep them safe. I am truly worried.
