Throughout the history of the filibuster, it has never been used against judicial appointments. It was always understood that the President should be able to get confirmation on the judicial nominees of his choice. This Senate tradition changed with Hillary Clinton. In every position she has ever held, she has managed to undermine every institution she has touched. The more liberal wing of the Democratic caucus is in control which also includes the influence of Ted Kennedy. The Democrats apparently could care less that long years of Senate tradition and bi-partisanship have been trashed by using the filibuster to thwart judicial appointments.

I really liked John Kennedy when he was president for a short while. But Teddy is an old liberal with antiquated ideas. Hillary...well lets just say she isn't my cup of tea. Much too wishy-washy like her hubby (or is it ex-hubby?). I think this chorus of Dems is so anti-Bush that they will stoop to any level to thwart him. And I want to believe that Bush is honest and sincere, but what I have been hearing lately gives me great reason to pause. I am not saying that this long held tradition should have been violated, but you can be certain that there are many that need to be. Doing things the same old way just because we have always done them that way leads to stagnation and dishonesty in my view. Some traditions are fine, but many need to be broken and new allowances need to be made. That is changing with the times and creating news ways of dealing with new issues.

With all due respect.....it's not about long standing traditions....
I don't know how to say this politely....The current Mr. bush has screwed things up so bad in this country...that he has taken women's rights and thrown them
back to the 1940's why doesn't he go all the way and just take our right to vote as well??? This President has Created a Dictatorship out of the rubble of 9/11
and Democrats are partly to Blame for that , because they let him.
He saw 9/11 as an opportunity to take his agenda ( Big Business )
and use it like a runaway Freight-train. So ......In response to your statement....
I think there needs to be More Filibustering ( at least against Mr. Bush ) to protect all women's rights. Don't take this personally....this is for all people whom care about what's happening to their rights.

Would you please give me some examples of what you're saying. What do you mean about women's rights? And what do you mean about him creating a dictatorship? Tell me more.

Well, thank you for that history lesson. I do not recall every hearing this in my history class back in the days.
