Hi all I saw in a catalogue recently something which sounds like a fantastic idea (if it is what I think it is....). It's called a digital photo frame and it's an actual photo frame you put on display like a normal frame, but instead of just holding one photo, it displays alot of digital photos which you load onto it (sort of liek a slide show). I don't know exactly how it works but it sounds like a great idea! Does anyoen have one of these?

Hi urbangirl, yes I have a friend who got one for his father because his dad doesn't have a computer. My friend took a lot of pictures off his computer and put it on the memory card of his camera and in the back of the photo frame is a slot for a memory card and the pictures go into the photo frame. You set the photo frame to preview the pictures like a slide show and you set the speed that each picture changes. It's really cool and it holds a lot of pictures, he put about 250 pictures in for his dad. Here is a link where they sell it... http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?s=A-StorePrice-RSK&sr=1&origkw=photo+frame&kw=photo+frame&kwCatId=&pg=1&searchSort=TRUE&retainProdsInSession=1&x=10&y=6

I think it's a great idea even if you HAVE a computer because you could display it on a side table for example where you would normally put a standard frame. It aslo saves you havign to buy lots and lots of frames for photos.

No, I dont but it sounds great. That would make a wonderful talking piece and I suppose for the mean time, something a bit unusual.

Where could I get one of those? LOL! I would surely love to have one of those. Mothers like me would certainly load it up with pictures of our kids and family. Well, I just can't help it! and digital photo frames was made probably with people like me in mind.

It sounds like it would be a nice frame to have. What catalog did you find it in?

I saw it in a Harvey Norman catalogue (a big retailer here in Australia that sells furniture, homewares and electrical equipment). They cost about $90 (Australian).

I don't have one of these, but have seen them. I like the idea of this product but I would like to see something bigger that one could put up on wall. I once saw on TV, a newly built apartment and the guy had a 40 inch plasma TV on the wall that did this - a bit of an expensive photo frame though, I thought at the time :-)

My aunt has one of these. I was thinking of getting one for my parents, but they don't use their digital camera much. It's so convenient, although I'd have to get an extra memory card for my camera.

Hello Urbangirl, I don't have one, but I have seen them in the store. The one that I saw held a certain number of pic's, based on memory. So, it might hold between a dozen or several dozen images. It had an LCD type screen in an 8X10" size. And, you could choose which image you wanted to display, and change at will. Very neat, but a bit pricey.

Hi urbangirl. Like one of the responses above, i thought up these myself and thought they would be a great way to display all of those digital photos, then realised they already existed. They are becoming more popular in the UK, but when my friend bought one, I wasn't that impressed. It was a great piece of kit, but i wouldn't want to sit watching a 6x4 screen for ages. Because they use LCD or TFT screens, you can't see them very well from side angles either. I had been really keen to buy one, but to be honest, i think you would be better off putting pictures onto CD or DVD and showing them through the TV. Perhaps it's just me, but I prefer to view my photos using my laptop anyway. Then i can skip through easily and zoom etc at will. My laptop (with tft screen) always seems to make pictures look crisper and sharper than anything else anyway. My wife was given one of those keyring things when she returned to work after her maternity. Again, it's pretty cool as a novelty but the picture quality is poor.

Hi Rhinoboy - I wouldn't think of them as an alternative to computers but just an alternative way to display more photos rather than having so many frames in the house. I would never subject someone else to a slideshow of photos they didn't want to see though ;-)

I have never heard of this before but would like to see one as it does sound really interesting and a different way to display all our digital picutres rather then on a computer or on a camera . I will have to check around and see if I can find out what they are now because I love finding new ways to put up my photos and since the digital camera's came out , I always have them stored on my computer or on cd's and they don't get viewed this way .

I don't have one but I've seen them on sale in places such as Blacks photo's and even in some Best buys here in Canada too. I love how they look and the pictures look good too. However, I do feel they're a little expensive. The cheapest one I've seen is $200 and I'm not willing to pay that for something that I can already do and view on my PC. For those people without computers it may be a nice gift but for most of us, we can already do this online.

I think u r talking of the Photo Frame that Yahoo Widgets provides u with.. It also comes up with Windows Vista.. I have it installed on my computer and the pictures keep on changing from time to time and it looks good on the desktop... Try downloading it from the Yahoo website, by entering Widgets in the searchbox...

I think they are a great idea, but at this point, all of them I have seen are very expensive, personally way to expensive for what you get. When they come down in price (under $20) I will consider them, until then, I can't justify them.

I have heard about them and seen them. But the price looks a little steep.I would like to have one maybe if the price goese down in a couple of years. But it is neat that it shows alot of different pictures. It would be nice for a father or mother who traveled alot and could upload pictures of their family to take with them or it would be good for a family member that is in Iraq or stationed other places.
