Who loves their job

I just saw there was a post asking who hated their job, well I have to say not Me. I have worked at restaurants most of my life. I enjoy doing it. I love that time when you are moving at a pace where you don't have time to think, but just do what has to be done. I have been in the kitchen and in front as management. I also enjoy dealing with people, so being there to greet and to talk to customers was always fun too. Ok, now that was a short post, but I ask this, Who loves their job? What do you do and why do you enjoy it so much?

I am one of those fortunate enough to love my job too. I am a psychotherapist/hypnotherapist in the UK and love just helping people transcend problems. I have been doing this just over 30 years now. It was my second career having changed from being a professional musician in 1976, when live musicians were becoming less and less in demand in favour of "canned" music. I still love playing piano/keyboards as a hobby now. It is a great way to unwind. When I was a musician, there were times of "rest" when there was little or no work around and I would take on a variety of jobs. But I think I am fortunate in finding it very easy to adapt to the most mundane jobs. I put this down to my strong interest in Zen, which advocates mindfulness in everything one does in the moment of now.

Hmmmm.. That's unusual for a musician to hate his job. Most of my musician friends were very enthusiastic about music - and it was their love for it that kept them in work because of the way their enthusiasm improved their skills :-)

I have a good friend who used to play drums. Unfortunately he didn't like his job. He would play at local clubs and parties both to make a little bit of extra cash and to be able to release tensions from his work.

I have to admit that I love my job. I have worked in jobs that I pretty much enjoy in the last 15 years, prior to that as I was building up my career I had to do a few jobs which I didn't enjoy the most but I knew I couldn't sit at home and take the easy option by signing on the dole, so I did what I needed to do even though some days I couldn't face going into the office and doing the most boring of jobs. I work in Human Resources, part of my job is dealing with recruitment consultants to send us CVs for our vacant positions. I have a good rapport with the agents that I use and have always made it clear from the start of a relationship with them that I want them to only send relevant CVs and that I closely monitor their submission to interview ratio, in other words, make sure the candidates they submit at least have ALL of the essential skills and qualifications for the jobs. I also do interviews with potential staff and I think I bring a human touch to it, always remembering that people can be very nervous, although because I'm dealing with high level computer programmers, some of them don't know what it means to be nervous and can come across as very arrogant which isn't always a bad thing. Confidence is good, it shows that you know your stuff. Part of my role is also to induct new staff which I really enjoy as I can put my people skills to good use. In my last 3 jobs, I have been involved in looking after new staff so I guess I must be doing something right. I always remember how I felt on my first day/week and what I would like to have been shown and told. It's always quite nerve-wracking fitting into a new team, no matter how experienced you are so having someone to show you around and take you out to lunch on your first day and show you simple things like where the nearest banks are, post office, places to buy lunch, etc. Part of my current job is also to look after health and safety for the office and liasing with the landlords of our premises, which includes reporting faults with the lift (elevator), faulty taps in the toilets, problems with the door entry system, etc. All in all, my job has a nice variety, I do somewhat more than I've said here but there are the main areas of responsibility for me and I do enjoy it, mainly because there is so much variety and because I get to spend a lot of time doing what I enjoy most - talking LOL! x

last april year 2007, i worked as a pro-gamer for world of warcraft or let just say a power - leveler. but the company just suddenly closed all their accounts due to massive company income lost. well i can say that kind of job is kind of easy one for me, but i hate the way they run the company rules. for the job that i enjoyed most is working in a warehouse of books for i can find alots of books i can read, too bad i ended up as a contractual so ended for only a year.

I love my job...I am a Licensed Mortgage Consultant. I help people with the dream of homeownership, I help them consolidate debt, or take money out there home for whatever..My biggest satisfaction with my job is being able to help people who need the help and to also educate them on everything from credit to real estate investing. I like that fact that I can take and walk my clients threw the entire process unlike most Loan Officers who don't. I make sure that when I am dealing with clients that whatever program I put them in that it will help them and not hurt them as well..That is why I love my job...I am a Mortgage Professional for life...

When I did work, I absolutely loved it. I worked as a company secretary for a major 4WD accessory company. It was brilliant, a male dominated industry which I loved because i found that I couldnt work with other females. My boss was the best and he made my coffees for me and thanked me everyday. .

I am a real estate paralegal. I like my job. I think I like it because of the people I work with. This is the first lawfirm that I've worked at where the people (and yes, that includes the attorneys) are all nice and respectfull. It's a peaceful environment. Having worked at other lawfirms where the people were rude and malicious, I'd say that this job is a blessing. To be able to work at a place where there is peace, is PRICELESS.

:) Hi ya I can totally agree where ur coming from, My job and urs r totally different whereas u work in front as managment and im a call taker in a call centre. I also love talking so that helps!!! as i take about 140 calls per day which i pretty much have to follow a script, but it the people that i talk to which makes me enjoy doing my job. i mean dont get me wrong you do get the odd moody or just plain rude person but if ur have good communication skills and listening skills there not so difficult to deal with. I get so much pleasure from doing my job helping elderly people and making sure they get there taxi on time!!! So i guess u can also say i love my job.

I believe that when you love your work it gives you, as you say, this blissful state of 'not thinking'. A lot of mystics deal with this subject, that when you do what you are meant to do and become one with your action, to a certain extent the 'you' in you (or the 'ego', if you wish) ceases to exist, you become the work. Isn't that nice? I envy you.

It is strange that too much people around me don't like their job, they only work for money, and they can't enjoy theirselves all the time.for me,I can tired of busy working some time, I am an accountant, you know that it is too terrilbe that go along with number all time, not funny, not exciting, but I always try my best to work well,I like the feeling of achievement,I will happy if only I am working at something.I will try my best doing it even if I don't like it.

Glad to hear that you love your job. I spent more than 20 years in programming and moving onto management and I must say that I truly loved my job. It was always a challenge to me to develop solutions that helps the customers improve their efficiency, bottom line, productivity etc. However, I am now semi-retired and I own a small pub in a holiday island with my husband. Although this is a very different line altogether, I enjoy what I am doing very much. It is very interesting to meet different people from all walks of life. Our customers range from young to old and comes from all over the world. And one thing, I never thought that what I was doing is a job. I guess it is because I enjoy it so much that it becomes part of me and not a task or duty. So, when people ask me what is your job? I always say I am not working.
