rss - ?

I've seen this a lot lately, but never clicked on it. What, exactly, is RSS, or an RSS feed? Is it safe to look at?

RSS is an acronym for "Really Simple Syndication" and is an XML-based protocol used for sharing news and feature information through the internet.

Ah! Thanks! I usually see it referred to like an RSS newsfeed, etc. So that helps.
