Illegal aliens and drug smugglers are using intentionally set fires to burn agents out of observation posts and patrol routes. The fires are destroying natural resources. "In the Coronado National Forest in Arizona, with 60 miles of land along the U.S.-Mexico border, U.S. Forest Service firefighters sent in to battle fires or clear wild-land fire areas are required to be escorted by armed law-enforcement officers. Armed smugglers of aliens and drugs have walked through the middle of active firefighting operations, the authorities said." http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20070619-121814-2527r.htm This is absolutely amazing. How low will they stoop?

Illegal aliens starting forest fires should qualify as terrorist and be treated appropiately. These arsonists should be shot on sight when caught red handed by any federal officer. While we are at it, let's also consider any armed illegal alien to be an armed foreign invader terrorist and treat them appropiately.

And instead...we have the border patrol agents that were put in jail. Go figure.

The only way to fix this problem is for Americans to stop feeling sorry for these people. It is time for us to build a concrete wall extending from the border of California all the way to Texas. Permantly sealing our southern border from Mexico. After that we need to militarize our southern border. I am talking about using our armed forces against the illegal invasion that Mexico is using against us. Americans have got to get over this notion that they are only here to do the jobs that we don't want to do, they are only here to better their lives, and we are all immigrants so why should we raise an eyebrow towards these Mexicans.

Most of them will do whatever it takes to get here. I think the harder we make it for them, the more desperate they will become.

I really like your response, it reflects the way the sitation really is. Those migrant workers wouldn't be in the U.S. if nobody would hire them. Canada doesn't have a problem with illegal immigration, and that's simply because nobody would hire them.

ok..this is getting absolutely ridiculous. all of us here are getting stricter and stricter laws, under that joke of a "patriot act" and yet we can't even control our border. if they've decided they're gonna start burning stuff to get in now, they need to stop listening to the bleeding hearts and enforce that border. those fires could easily spread to residental areas and start killing people.

I was in Arizona last year visiting my daughter who lives by Coronado National Forest when there was a fire set by illegals. It took days to put it out, took hundreds of trips with the firefighting helicopters dumping water etc on the fires while crews worked on the ground. It put all those people's houses in harms way. It was scary.

Well, that is just so clever. They got to come up with some ways to get into the country. That's smart and stupid at the same time.

There might be fires and the illegal aliens might have caused them however might it just be they were cooking something to eat? Fires are part of the renewal system in parts of the western states by nature. Of course man made fires serve the same purpose however on a larger scale. So it can be a problem. I hope that the truth is made clear in time and that the illegal alien issue is dealt with. Thanks for bringing this discussion to this site.

It's uber dry over there..I'm willing to bet alot of those fires either had nothing to do with them or were accidents. The rest..sure. It's kindof an unorthadox plan..but what the hey, people do crazy things all the time. But just because a few illegal immigrants do this, doesn't mean they all are terrible people..these are desperate times..and we gotta be fair.
