Hi every one I just had my right eye cataract removed this morning, and other than wearing a patch I feel real good. I have to admit I had the hebe gebies about some one touching my eyes, so I played mind games with myself. So this is information for you of those that are possibly looking at cataract surgery. It is very simple and quick, other than a bit of pressure, there is absolutely no pain, and your eye is so frozen by the drops they put into it that is the reason for the patch, so that you do not rub or squeeze it accidentally. I had my surgery done at 10:30 this morning and it is now 5:30 and the freezing is gone, because my eye feels dry and if I did not have the patch would no doubt rub my eye. So if you have ant fears let them go. I promise you it it quick and painless, and tomorrow I will be able to see, and each and every day it will improve, until it is completely healed. I had the standard lens put in as there is no cost for that one. but if I were able to come up with $300, I could have the soft and bendable lens put in, the only difference is the soft lens is fold able so the incision can be made smaller and no stitches. but I do not feel the stitches, and all is well. . I will keep this updated

First off a tad off topic. As far as someone touching your eyes.... When I was a machinist I had gotten some minute steel shavings in my eyues. At the Drs office they actually used a magnet and tweezers. This feeling of a piece of steel embedded in your eye being tugged by a magnet was kind of cool. Scary feeling yet not painful. It just felt wierd feeling my eyeball being pulled outward from its cozy resting place. They got the shavings all out and it was scary as a towel with a hole was over each eye and all I could seee was this huge pointer with a magnet on it then a huge pair of tweezers coming towards my eyeball. HAHAHA. Now on to the cataract surgery. My dad had this done awhile back also. he was in the hospital for a half day tops I think. No pain no swelling etc. Just a dry eye was all like you said. I am sure in a few years Ill be in those shoes myself as I am 53 and my eyes are getting worse every year. Thanks for sharing and letting others know the procedure and no pain involved.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Good for you hon. I am so happy that it went well for you. My best friend's mom had the same surgery done, as did my mother in law, and both of them are so glad they did it. My mother in law doesn't even need her glasses anymore. Now keep those fingers away from your eye! LOL
