Can you relax when you are sleeping away from home?

I can't. Unless it's a hotel, my parent's or my boyfriend's house, I have difficulty sleeping. I feel anxious in a friend's house, like I'm intruding on their space and unless I'm utterly exhausted, will probably be up reading and staring at the clock until 3 or 4 in the morning. I find it helps if I bring my own pillow and blanket, since it feels more familiar, but it still bugs me. When my boyfriend lived with some friends of his, I only tried sleeping there twice. Once, I had to have about 10 glasses of wine in order to get my head nodding, and the other I stayed awake until 3 am and he finally took me home to sleep. He was really angry, but then he doesn't understand why I'm so anxious about it. What about you? Do you have trouble sleeping away from home?

Thats alos my problem. Even when I go home I also feel the same. Since I now live away from home and sometimes spend my holidays there I still find it hard to sleep. Since I have been renting a place for over seven years. I seldom go home thats why I find it hard to sleep on the first night.

Yes I do! Even at my mothers place... its because anywhere but home is unfamiliar so I'm nervous about it. Even when I move to a new place it takes me several days to be able to sleep comfortably

Now this is strange. Wished this had come to my mind a couple weeks ago. I am a caregiver for my ailing father. (83). I have to be near him nearly 24/7. Well it gets stressful being stuck in the house for so long a period. One weekend I used my comps from a local Casino and got me a motel room. I tried to get my wife to come also and opur daughter would have come over to watch dad for one day. Anyhow after I had eaten and gambled and swam and exercised using the casions amneties after about 12 hours it was time to retire for the night. Hard as I tried I could not go to sleep without my wife there. Never had this happen before. So I drove the 65 miles back home at 3 a.m. She was stunned yet felt great knowing I couldn't sleep without her near me. If she had been there I more than likely would have stayed up all night gambling. Hahaha!! Thanks also for this discussion. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

A very good question, I never feel relax sleeping away from my home, I love my room and my bed, I feel always unconfortable to take accommodation in a hotel room or guest houses, or staying night in friends room
