what makes a topic hot?

what makes a topic hot? i had posted a lot of discussions but i still wont make it! my responses are few and the biggest are just three! in want to make a discussion that many will respond..please help!

I don't know too. I posted topics that are interesting but only few respond...but when i posted about something about spaghetti, 10 people responded... i don't undestand how to make hot discussions.
