As many know I got poison ivy this week. I have found the home remedies to help dry them up and stop the itching. I have had to use all of these because my daughter gets it very easy so it was not an option to let it just run it's course. Put vinegar on the spots to help stop itch and dry them up. Make oatmeal and spread it over the body, let it dry before rinsing it off. This is rather messy but works well. Putting dish soap on the spots not only cleans the area but dries them up and helps with the itch as well. Then of course use the anti itch cream to keep on so that it will help with the itching. Also heat will bring about the itch more so do you best to not let her body get too warm. I found out that this year poison ivy is really going around. I would assume it has to do with the weather. Even if you read every where that others can not get it from you trust me when I tell you I have family members that only have to be in the same room as someone that has it and they can get it. They get it so badly they have to take shots. So if you get it please keep that in mind.

Yes, I'm very allergic to poison ivy also, I got it not too long ago, and I think I had it a month. I think I used everything I had in the house for itching, nothing worked, I just had to try my best not to scratch, because I knew if I did, it would spread like crazy. I finally had to go to the doctor and get a prescription for it, and she gave me some cream to put on it, and it helped to dry it up. I've also had to get shots too at one time, because I got it so bad. I've never heard of the dish soap thing, I've tried using bleach on it, it didn't do anything but made me stink like bleach..lol. Thanks for the tips...
