Ok, first off, I'm a huge fan of the fantasy genre (books, movies, video games, etc), but I cannot generate an interest whatsoever in Harry Potter. I lost interest in the first book about 50 pages into it, and I fell asleep during the movies. Is there something I'm missing that drives people to obsess about Harry Potter?

When the third book was getting ready to come out I had no idea who Harry Potter was.I was talking to my sister and her,my brother and law and niece read them together as a family and she said how good the books were,so I told her that when the third book came out that I would get it at the library and read it.She explained tome that I had to start with book 1 and so on I wouldn't understand the story. And she was right. She said you can't go to the library,it won't be there yet. So,I said that I would stop by the store and she said,no again and that I had to reserve it.I was thinking, what?????.So,I went to the store and got book 1 and started reading it and loved it,then I couldn't find book #2,so my sister lean't me her's.I was trying to read them before #3 came out.My sister reserved me a book.I read #1 and #2.I was hooked,at the time my daughter was too young to understand the books. The store where our books were reserved was about 20 miles away from my home and my husband drove me there toget the books and drop one off to my sister and we got there and they had made a mistake and only reserved my sister's book and sold mine.My husband drove me to my sister's and used her phone to call around and the WalMart was very busy and the woman at the dressing room answered the phone and said that someone had left a book on the counter there and it had no name on it.So,she put my name on it and placed it under the counter. We got there in 5 minutes to get the book.I stayed up all night and read the book. When the first movie came out,I took my daughter to the theatre,we were the first one's there for the first viewing. Then my daughter was hooked. We went to each movie, first one's there.Got them all on VHS.Went to the last Harry Potter book party at the book store and got the book at midnight. It was fun.See Harry Potter is pretend, fun to imagine, yet the stories can be scarry, heartwarming, sad at times too.JK Rowling didn't know what she created.Iam so glad that someone who really deserves to get million's get's it.Like look at Paris Hilton get's interviewed about being in jail and get's a million for it.Like she need's it.

How many times have you tried to read the books? Sometimes if you go back and try to read it again you see it in a whole new way. I know a few people who didn't like harry potter at first, but gave it another go and now really love it! As to why it's so good - hmmm, if i knew that i could make my own fortune and sell millions of books. It just is brilliant. The story line is very different and exciting, lots of magic and mystery and adventure. The way it's written is amazing, people say it's a children's book, but if you read carefully i think it's more written for adults - there's lots of stuff children won't get. Can't really think how to describe how it's written, but it just works very very well. It's also very very funny in places and there's so much detail in the way it's written that shows how carefully it was done with so much thought put into it. I read a lot of books and more often than not really enjoy most of them - but harry potter just really stands out from all the rest and i definetely recommend giving it another go! Especially as the writing becomes even less child like as the books progress!
