No he wasn't.
Pele and alot of other players are more talented. being able to run through people and scoring isn't what makes a great player :)
he was very good, although a cheater, dirty and very rude. As i said up above, he's talented but he would last long in todays game :)

Not "the" greatest. IMO
I could name at least 30 from the past which had a better control and skill :)
this doesn't mean he wasn't good

hm i think in my opinion the best player in the world is zidane, i think we all agree that it's true that the best player in the world depends on the era like maradona in 80's but in 90's i think zidane is the best player in the world..

Diego Maradona was one of the greatest player during his reign.He would has been the best player of football during his time but now the game has changed and it has more skill player then that time.Pele was also a great player but I think Maradona was the best during his time.As a youngster of the future generation I have many favorite players.But the player I like the most is Christiano Ronaldo who players for Portugal because of his speed and skills with the ball.

For me, from all the players i've seen play, Maradona was the best by far. He made Napoli champion only with his talent. It's a pity that his mind wasn't as talented as his body. He has been the best so far.

I feel Pele and Maradona both were great players who had great skills with the ball, controlling the ball, dodging defenders and shooting the ball to goal. But I feel Pele was better as his ball control was too good esp. his free kicks like the banana kick when the ball swirled past defensive wall and beat hapless goalkeeper.
