Actually when I was in high school about 10 years ago a local doctor was offering treatment to quit smoking and it was hypnotize. He claimed it would work in one session so I figure I would check it out. Well I went in for it and found it kind of stupid but actually for acouple days after I didnt smoke. Although as soon as I had acouple of drinks I was smoking again. See I think its all in peoples heads. They go in and some doctor just repeats the same sentence to you over and over again until your in a sleep state which is when they say your acceptable to suggestion but to me it wasnt anything like that. Its just I have bad will power. So anyways I have tryed the patch it worked longer but I gave that up. If I was you or anybody else you is think about getting hypnotized, I wouldnt waste my time or money on that and just stick to the proven ways like gum and the patch.

kodie42- I think that you just did not want to quit smoking. Hypnosis cannot make you do anything that you do not want to do. I have helped many people with hypnosis including a woman that was going to a psychiatrist for over 8 years because of multiple personalities. Within 4 months I had "destroyed" her "alter egos" and her doctor asked me how I had done it but he was really wanting to know Why I had done it. I had taken a "cash cow " away from him.

When I was 22 years old I leared to smoke for over a year. I used to work until very late and smoking helped me calm my nerves and seems to help me concentrate and think deeper. But I noticed after a while that my skin was not as it used to be and that my lips seems to darken with time. I also noticed that I kept having shortness of breath, so I stopped. I was able to completely stop smoking in 4 months time.

That is great for you and I hope that not too much damage has been done to your body by smoking. I t also shows that you were ready to quit and you had the will power to quit on your own. Some people need crutches to help them with things and hypnosis is a crutch to help people get the results that they want to accomplish.

I was never hypnotized to stop smoking but I did have an oral surgeon that hypnotized me before doing surgery and I have to tell you it was the best dental experience I ever had in my life. Unfortunately he passed away and I never gave hypnosis a try again. After the surgery I didn't even realize it had been done because it was totally pain free and I felt great when I woke up.
