I appreciate the japanese version of the ring more. I watch all three movies, the ring, ring 2 and ring zero. Its really far better than the hollywood version. Despite of the subtitles (of course i dont know japanese)you can still feel fear creeping in your nerves! I even found my self shouting and screaming out loud. I was even scared to face television for a weak and sleep with lights open! that how scary it is.
While the hollywood The Ring may be scary for people who didnt watch the original japanese version. I can say that the hollywood version fused all three movies... and thus making it short and less scary. forgetting the details like creepy sounds that is very evident in the original film like joints cracking, squicky sounds and even dangling hair slowly approaching you... waaaaah...

The Japanese 'Ring' was okay, but it was poorly done in terms of cinematography, which I think weakens it. It just looked low-budget overall and wasn't as convincing. The American version did summarize all three movies, and I think that that was a good thing because it saved audiences from having to watch three movies, and it saved the producers some money, despite having to make it look a little cramped. It was executed nicely; it didn't reek of cost-cutting like most of these Asian horror movies. The effects were also better of course.
However, I do not find 'Ring' in any of its incarnations scary at all. There just aren't too many scary movies nowadays.

yah ive seen the ring --- all of them... japanese version... japanese versions are a lot scarier than remakes. hollywood style --- not scary at all... but i still like them. im a horror fanatic.

i watched ring jap version and hollywood version. Japanese version was really scary.

Totally! I love this movie, I've also watch The Ring 0 1 2, at first I was on a doubt to watch it, so I first tested it using my pc to watch, and my eyes are focus on it, so there were parts that scare me a lot, LOL but it was fun, this is one movie I can't forget, as for me, nothing beats japanese when it comes to suspence and horror, it's just the best, but among all the suspence/horrors, The Ring just got me head over heels! Oh YEAH!
