All water in Australia is treated with chlorine. Public swimming pools have to treat their water with very high levels of chlorine. The problem is, some people are allergic to chlorine, including my daughter. As some of you know, she trains with her competitive swimming ten hours each week. Some pools aren't too bad, but there others with a very high chlorine level. After training in some of these pools, she has a very bad itch & rash. Sometimes the itching occurs whilst in the water. Also, the chlorine causes bather straps to rub. I am wonder if anyone has a treatment, such as a cream, that helps alleviate a chlrine allergy rash & itchiness. The problem can be chronic at times.

Give her benadryl or some other allergy liquid and rub rash with calamine lotion. Give her a bath with baking soda too. That should relieve the symptoms. It's funny I should see your post... I was browsing this subject for a friend of mine and came up with this site... http://www.dermaswimpro.com/index.html They sell a lotion that prevents these symptoms. Apparantly was designed for proffessional swimmers. I hope this helps.

I had a look at the site you gave me, & the product seems perfect. International users need to email them, which is exactly whaty I am going to do. They may even let me be a reseller.

Allergy is common problem these days. As Chlorine is being used in water in bulk at Australia, it is causing allergy to some people. Your daughter is also one of them. As she has chosen swimming carrier, she must be free from this allergy. What I know is Pranayama which helps in shorting out this problem. I remember, you used to do yoga/pranayama in the past. But this is being done in scientific way in India. One site www:divyayoga.com is having all the details, please visit and first go through all the details under Pranayama section. Kapalbhati, Nadi Sodhan, Anulom-Vilom this pranayamas will be more helpful for complete elimination of allergy. It has no side effect. This Breathing exercise will be helful in swimming also. If it is done daily as suggested by the site, your daughter will have no allergy problem. In India lot of people are benefited by this, as you know pollution level is very high here in India. Try and get the positive result within one week time only.

The only things I can think of is either Benadryl or oatmeal baths. The Benadryl might cause drowsiness if taken in the pill form so it might be best to try it after she gets done swimming. They also make a cream to put on the affected areas. There is also something called Aveeno oatmeal bath. I am not sure if either of those products are available where you live. You may want to contact a doctor and see if they can recommend something or maybe refer her to an allergist.

My husband had that reaction when we used to use Chlorine in the hot tub so we switched to Nature II. With pools like your daughter uses you can just switch- I would contact your doctor and see what he says. Whenever I have an allergic reaction to something i use hydrocortozone cream and benedryl. You may want to try something like SPF sun lotion that is water proof and have her put it on before she goes in the pool maybe it will help to protect her skin, if not ask your doctor if he can recommend something waterproof to protect her skin while swimming.
