we all know that salvation is earned through christ, through his grace, and that it is a free gift that He offers us and is not really something we earn... so the question is, do you think we could lose salvation or not? this something is so hard to settle especially in churches... for those who don't believe in salvation in this way, then please don't join the discussion... thanks! :)

Many people who don't believe in losing salvation will ask the question, "were they ever saved in the first place?" But who are we to judge whether or not a person is or was saved? Only God knows that! I think it doesn't matter if you can lose your salvation or not. The Bible states that many, many will be turned away. This means the majority! So many people will think they're saved, but live so far from what they should and when the stand in line at judgment, they will be turned away.

you sound like there's really no way to determine if we are on the right track or not... that sounds like a cruel God that even if we do our best to be saved, it's all just a game of luck wether you are on the right group or not... there's got to be a way to make sure that you are saved...

Of course there's a way to know. But I don't think someone who knows and experiences God in a way that believers do would ever turn away. But I'm not going to judge someone and say, "well they were never saved in the first place."

Salvation cannot be lost; once you are saved, you stay saved. There are such people called back-slidden Christians.

It has been argued for many centuries, but I think the salvation-can-be-lost crowd is missing an important point. Nothing man does merits salvation. This includes good deeds, asking forgiveness, proclaiming Christ, "continuing in the faith," etc. Salvation is a gift from God, based on His mercies alone. We don't deserve it; that's why it is called "mercy." He saved us "...not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy..."(Titus 3:5). Christianity is the only religion in the world that teaches salvation by grace. The Bible says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
