Few years ago my son and I went to a nearby seaside with some friends. The children are swimming happy in the sea while we were preparing the foods under the shade. Suddenly we heard my son screaming loudly and I rushed to him immediately. I was told that a jelly fish came to touch his chest which soon became reddish. My 8 year son complained that his chest felt burning and painful. One of the local friends there got a bottle of 7up and poured it right on the affected part. After a short while he soon felt at ease.

I'm not afraid of basic jellyfish. I've been stung and while painful it wasn't the worst pain I've ever experienced. That said, when I was out boating in the Florida Keys with my aunt and uncle a long time ago, we saw a beach literally CLEAR. Everyone ran out of the water in a panic. My uncle being the adventurous sort took the boat as close as he could. The water had cleared because there was a man-o-war, in the water. It was about 5 feet in diameter.

Yes actually I am terrified of the things. Squids and octopi as well. I have seen some on discovery channel as large as 8 feet in diameter! Can you imagine what kind of a zap that thing could give you? I wonder if that is the purpose of jelly-fish on the cartoon sponge bob square pants. My kids love that show, and it teaches kids that they sting, and alot of other stuff about them. Maybe they are trying to change the worlds opinion of jelly-fish?
